Physical resistant buff

I notice one of the BM buffs gives (for the first version and I cant remember the name of it atm) like 80 or 90 to physical resist. What I was wondering is do any of the other healers get a buff that gives physical resist?

Disciples also get a Physical Resistance Buff.

If physical resistance isn't tied to mitigation from normal melee damage, I'd like to know exactly what physical damage is and what kinds of spells and abilities are this damage type.
