To those that have higher level Monks - I was wondering if it gets easier. I just dinged my Dark Elf Monk to level 10. And it seems to me one of the more difficult classes to play in VG - as I have also played some other classes up to and around level 8 - 10 and I am definitely having the hardest time with him.
I do truly enjoy the Monk style of class as I had a 70 Monk in EQ2, it just seems every fight I'm in goes down to the wire. I did switch from a martial sword to bare hands after reading some other posts - which seemed to help out a bit.

It gets easier. But there is a lot of content that you can not solo very well, at least not as a Dragon monk.

Drunken isnt much easier. I'm thinking of switching to harmonious and see if the debuffs make a difference.

Can you actually change stances though?
Monks are kinda fun, but not very strong in my opinion (level 18 so far.)
I think they are one of the worst classes to solo with, at least. It's extremely hard to kill a 3 dot mob without the 5minutes recast self-heal or exterior buffs. The same mob would be very easy with a Warrior / DK / Any Healer / Necro / Psi. And, I suppose, with any class capable of kiting (Druid, Sorc, Ranger.)
Anybody can kill a single 2dot mob, and Monks are not especially fast at that.
In large groups, it is pretty dull. There's pulling, thankfully, if the place is hard enough to warrant not having the tank pull (which is faster / more efficient.) FD pulling sometimes work, but I haven't been able to figure out what is "feature" and what is "bug" in the mobs behaviour. They corpse camp a lot. FD randomly doesn't clear aggro at all.
Also, if the place your group is fighting in is hard enough to warrant having a Monk pull, it will only be because, if too many mobs add on the pull, the Monk is able to abort the pull. Unfortunately, it is not so easy. If, again, the place is hard enough to warrant it, the mobs will be 4dots, Yellow++ and coming by 3 or more. In those conditions, FD will fail 90% of the time, and you will die.
My Monk shines in small groups. Tanking 3dots decently or AEing swarms (4+) of 2dots (but that's the only fun we get, so that might be next on the nerflist) with a couple people (including a good healer.)

I agree... I think Monk needs some looking into, damage given vs damage taken...
It is rough when you are trying to take out a 3 dot mob, and then you see a Necro, Warrior, DK, Paladin, Ranger, Disciple, of the same level run in and take out two while you barely kill one!?!?!
I get sad some times, but then I sit down and Meditate on how fast my Jin goes up...
Also, I am having trouble understanding the Monk damage output, they are supposed to be a Light fighter, melee dps correct? Why is it that (know that my gear is always maxed) my damage is not that great... also I notice that when you use two claws or wraps, etc... the damage in the off-hand goes down a ton... it just looks off for some reason.
It is fair to say in most difficult fights, if I do not land enough crits, I die... and my dex is maxed!!!! Tough times being a Monk...

lv36 monk - have that bladed staff from the infineum quest that has like 43dps or something. its decent. even with skills maxed, i still tend to miss a lot with it so i just stick to my 30dps fists. as far as dmg taken vs dmg given, solo is tough no matter what mob you are fighting and the only thing that makes it even possible to efficiently xp a solo monk is if someone gives you buffs. then you can kill 3 or 4 mobs before having to heal yourself or rest.
as a response to the main question, no, it doesnt get much easier as a monk at higher levels.
