For those people in the stages of beta that had the 3 ability + 3 bridge = 27 finisher chains, I dug this up from my archives. Guess I must have created it at some point and then I added one of the backgrounds someone created.

For those that didn't know about it: Rangers at one point in time had a set of 3 opener attacks that also acted as finishers, along with 3 bridge attacks. So a total of 6 abilities that lead to 27 different finishers (which I never got the change to log them all, so didn't include them in my image). It was a simplistic system that lead to incredibly complex gameplay based on what finishers you were trying to put out (and this was back when you didn't need to crit to use a finisher, just follow the opener->bridge->finisher cycle).

Anyways, just a throw back to what could have been *sniff* R.I.P.

Aye, I loved those chains <sniff*> <mourns>

I've never heard a definitive answer as to why we lost them, but I suspect it made us too overpowered. Certainly, a LOT of classes had Ranger envy at that point in our development <nods>

Talisker and Avair have been doing a lot of REALLY great things for us and I'm sooo glad that they have a heart for us!

P.S. I made this chart based off of Talisker's post (verbatim). It REALLY *was* quite awesome.

P.P.S. I miss hate ... having no taunt makes Rangers cry. Well, makes Healers cry....

The crit based finishers are more balanced, but this has had the downside of forcing every melee class to max DEX to take advantage of finishers.
