View Full Version : Request for Sigil: Flagged enemies in Team PVP servers
New feature request: flagged PC enemies in Team PVP Servers. Having a way to recognize enemies easily will be a great improvement for the game. This flagging can be as simple as red names, or some icon over enemy players.
Enemies can be already be recognized by using the TargetNextOffensivePC key setting, so this addition will not change game mechanics. But having to press a key for cicling enemies just to recognice valid targets is not comfortable, nor user friendly.
If you like the idea, let the devs know, this request does not look difficult to code, we just have to let our voices be heard :)

I'd like to see this also, its very easy to pick me out of a crowd im the goofy looking gnome but for me to distinguish between the two gets hairy sometimes...

I for one am AGAINST this. For the first time in a PvP game it actually takes paying attention and some skill to see who your enemy is. It is now possible to flank and use strategy in PvP. Vanguard is said to be a harder more realistic MMO with a better combat system and I think not having flagged names is definately a part of that.
If you see someone running up to you hit tab, if you select them then they are evil. It is quite easy. By not having bright red names it adds just a bit more to PvP. It makes it that stealthing classes aren't the only ones that can be a bit sneaky.
In my opinion the bright red names would make the game a bit too much like the easier no skill ones. In WoW, you see a red dot and then immediately get ready for a fight. There is no catching someone off guard if you can't sneak. Now people have a chance to blind into the crowd, "sneak" into a city and assassinate a target, it actually takes COMMUNICATION to find the person and hunt them down....yeah, go figure, people working together in PvP!
Keep Vanguard the better game, keep Vanguard the smarter game, keep red named factions OUT!

On a side note. It could be interesting to give certain classes a short term buff, maybe 60 seconds, recast 5 minutes, that would color names. I would think a psion would get this since they are able to tell information about NPCs with spells. It is sorta like feeling out the minds of the people around him to figure out who don't belong.
For me, clicking tab like crazy is not equal to 'paying attention and some skill'. Just my opinion, anyway :)

Its still something though. I don't usually walk around and just hit TAB all the time. Specically when I think that I am safe and surrounded by alot of fellow goodies....only to find half are bad and they are about to kill me! (and usually on our server they are 10-20 levels higher!)

There is a script/addon to do this most people are using.
