View Full Version : Please implement the Darkelf City of Pankor Zhi
Darkpilgrim
02-16-2007, 05:37 AM
All that the dark elves got at the moment is a little outpost called Hathor Zhi, but our actual city with all its wonders, crafting recipes, merchants, quests etc. is still not implemented! It was simply empty during beta and now its filled with placeholder npcs and guards. All level 48 and ready to kill you at first glance.
Please finish at least the basic content for each race. Hathor Zhi is great but not much to look at.

I thought Pankor Zhi was overrun by demons or something of the sort and is considered a high-level dungeon? Did I misread some lore somewhere?

Uhh....no....Pankor Zhi is very much in control of the Dark Elves. Stiirhad on the other hand was overrrun by Elementals.

how about fixing Dark Elves as a race! Our racial ability is more broke than Mike Tyson, living by himself, pitifully feeding pigeons in a 1 bedroom apartment in Phoenix of all places...

You're thinking of Stirrhad; though, the developers are thinking of making Pankor Zhi into a dungeon for the enemy races of the Dark Elves.

.......what? I thought Pankor Zhi was supposed to be a city. I could understand the Wyrm Roost though.

It is for the Dark Elves. It's planned to be a dungeon for the enemy races of the Dark Elves.

I got a dev reply about Pankor Zhi during beta5, stating that it is nearly done and will be almost exclusively used as 48+ quest hub and dungeon?, but who knows what their current plans are.

I'm just irritated because Hathor Zhi only has Soldier and Crafter civics, while Khal gets all the civics and more.

Phankor Zhi is a great city. It deserves fleshing out and some life. So also do NT, and Ahgram. They don't look lived in at all, sadly, and Khal hardly looks like a city than a convention center :P
Basic design, cool - but when you get close and dont' see the homes in Khal, or the marks of time and human nature and stuff, its hard to think they are terribly lived in. Compare to Qeynos or Freeport in either EQ1 or EQ2, but esp. EQ2. Freeport LOOKED like a lived in city. One of my fave cities in any game/MMO.

I think they were planning on fleshing out Ahgram a bit. They already seemed be doing that for New Targonor, and hopefully will do the same for Pankor Zhi.

If there is any housing in PZ, and I don't think there is, I'd say that will not be enterable. The few times I've been in PZ I've noticed that it has a dungeon feel and is massive. Back in beta 3 a bunch of Knights had a hide and seek event in PZ before faction went in. So many people got lost there. :p

I'd be willing to give you NT. That place looks and feels like a mausoleum and would be perfect for you darkies.

I actually know a couple of people who got so discouraged by the lack of Pankor Zhi that they cancelled and won't return until the Dark Elf city is implemented, lol
Others have complained that the new content added in Update #1 didn't include Pankor Zhi, too.
I guess some Dark Elves are really sensitive about having a home city.
While I'd say Pankor Zhi and other cities not implemented in the game have a higher priority, ALL cities need work. Considering immersion there's really nothing in the city. There are a sparse few NPCs. The cities are little more than extended outposts, or a collection of shops rather than a mix of residential and industrial quarters. And a lot of NPCs should be walking about, more, and mingling with each other more, rather than just standing still the whole time. Also add random citizens that serve absolutely no purpose than to gossip about so-and-so player, or so-and-so guild (like in CoH), that would be cool.
And as someone said previously add some wear and tear in the buildings. Right now everything looks so pristine and unrealistic.
But I digress. Yes, Pankor Zhi needs to implemented. All cities not yet implemented should be implemented. I hope this gets done in the next 1 to 2 months.

Maybe you should stop by Ahgram....with the exception of the Palace district it's not that glamorous.

Oh yeah, by no means am I saying everything or any one thing is beautiful in regards to cities (at least the ones I've seen in Qalia). I meant pristine as in clean and untouched, like it doesn't belong in the rest of the world.

Agree. That was my intent as well. Cracked walls and some ripped overhangs don't make it lived in. The place looks like it has been swept.
There are no actual homes. Just small niches in the side of the wall. Kind of like the set for a Rennaisance Faire, for vendors, but no one actually lives there, they go home four miles away in their motel.

Why does hearing that my City might be a target for everyone else raiding remind me of Neriak? Christ, why does everyone want to kill my guards... *sigh*

A number of walking and randomly talking NPCs, including playing children, would dramatically add to the immersion of cities. Once in for immersion, quests could be added to some of thee NPCs at a later date.

I don't really need another city to get lost in. HZ has everything I need in a nutshell. At least there are people there. Without players every city feels bland and empty, no matter how many NPCs are wandering the streets.
However making it a Dungeon for other races than Darkelves does not so much remind me of Neriak but of Kael Drakkel. Depending on your faction you could either shop there or take the goods without paying. This option to choose sides was actually one of the best ideas of the scars of velious.

honestly unless their some type of transportation is put there like sky boats or something, and alot of quests/crafting/diplomacy around there. i dont see many people hanging out there. its in the mid of nowhere and nothing around atm, and it seems that high level mobs would be put around there. looks like it will be a lvl 50 hang out if anything. seems to me it will be a while before they open this place up. thats just my thoughts thou.
also i too have a strange feeling to IT WILL be the target for city raiding. bring it on, telonians.

The cities in EQ2 were 100000000000000x more inteligent than the ones in VG. Everythign in VG just the flat grounf with some radomly placed boxes. Even LN is plain compared to anyhting in EQ2. In EQ2 Q and FP had all the surounding burbs, and what, like 3 lvls of sewers?

Agree, mostly. Khal is possibly the worst offender, as there is no where for the inhabitants to live, it looks more like the Jacob Javits lecture center in NYC than a place where the Mordebi visit and Qaliathari live. Beautiful overall concept, rather sterile in execution.
On the other hand, a few exceptions do exist: Lethe Nurae, Halgarad, and Darkhargh do look more lived in. They need work, but they are conceptually a step ahead or three from NT, Ahgram, and Khal.
This lack becomes easily illustrated by visiting the 'tavern' in Halgarad. It looks more like a warehouse for military surplus than a place where locals would want to have a barroom brawl or swill down the local booze. :P
