I am considering playing a blood mage and was wondering, with all our x hp x energy heals, will we every make it in a pvp situation, or will we tap and heal ourselves to a point of weakness and get one shotted? Any info would be great, thanks!

i've only dueled a couple people. it seems more a matter of being able to burn someone down quickly than trying to combine healing in there while we slowly do dammage.
so no, BM is not a class i'd pick for PVPing. i'd probably go with a beefier cleric or shaman.

agreed. cleric and shaman are currently better choices. If you have faith that they will address PvP balance issues in a timely manner then go right ahead and play the bloodmage.
Bloodmage has no armor, no speed buff, and no meele damage.
If I get jumed, I usualy just try to run away while healing myself. My nukes are pretty weak and ive run oom and died the few times I tried to go on the offense.
But who knows maybe with more levels and practice this will change.
I do know though without a doubt, bloodmage is the weakest of the healers in pvp.
why do I always get drawn to the underpowered class.. hmmm

Unless your bar is below half and have to heal , root is the most first move and the most important skill you have. Without root you wont get away- where are you going to go anyway? You have to get off their screen so that they lose target to have a chance.

As a Bloodmage on a PvP server all I can say is don't run around without friends. We are all about our Blood Union and when you PvP you are basicly forced to stay on one target, unless you want to lose the BU you worked up on your target. We are super squishy, nukes are rather weak and with the PvP cut on damage it takes awhile to kill anyone. I am normally the one those "evil" bastages go after first. I am normally forced to DoT, maybe one Cyst and then flat out spam heal myself. Friends will normally kill them before I run outta mana. Without them I am pretty much a sitting duck. The class is a blast to play though, but expect a challenge.

QFT. Travel with friends.
When you are caught alone, if you encounter 2 people, root and run cus you're gonna die unless theyre both way under you and way undergeared (even then, it's not worth the risk as they have nothing to lose and you do). 1vs1, I usually end up dotting then spam lifetap until I can finish em off with Ritual.
Since our taps are cut in half in PVP, it's pretty tough for BMGs. You have one other option in 1v1, and that's root nuke. BUT, you CANNOT nuke with cyst if you have 3 BUs or more, cus it'll DoT em and then you can't root em. So I would suggest this:
Root
Cyst
Root
Tap
Ritual
Root
Or just Root/Tap/Root/Tap/Ritual/Root (less dmg but you heal yourself more)
/rinse repeat. Works ok but you really need to watch that BU counter. Once someone is dotted, you're fukt when it comes to root.
