Greetings all and well met.

I registered today on this site, after looking at it for a good long time. I linked here from the Firiona Vie Board to read the reports on the public debut some time back.
Luclily I added this to my favorites, and have been coming back more and more.

Immediately after registering, (I think I registered just so I could post a reply) I started posting. Then it occured to me that was a tad rude.

In game I am Garioch, last in the order of the Lone Rangers. Garioch was rolled up in the mid 1980s on paper, and has survived all these long years in one game or another since then. Soon he will appear in Vanguards.

EQ has been the only online game my wife and I have played.
I got it because she would not give me any time on the Playstation when the FFIX came out, then shortly after I rolled Garioch, the Playstaion started gathering dust. (and has been for 3.5 years now)

We are older, well, I am anyways. She is still beautiful and youthful in her early 30s, and I am none of those.
We are both in the Army, me with 5 years left and her with 12 to go, we are from the Pacific Northwest but due to our job we move alot.
We have really enjoyed the level of maturity and friendliness we found on the FV server, and I am certain she will enjoy this forum and community as well as I have and do.

Feel free to hail me any time here or in EQ until I either get into Beta or Vanguards finally goes live.
I am sure I will take that day off work just so I can have one of the earliest start times in what will certainly be the game for the next 5 years or more.

Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself and kudos on such an attractive and well mannered forum.

Hi, Garioch, and welcome to Silky Venom. It was kind of you to share your story with us. I love reading about the people who come here. It is sort of like meeting old friends for the first time :) - hope you enjoy your stay.

Old friends for the first time. I like that.
Kinda the feeling you get when you meet someone you have a good idea you'll know them for a while. :D

Welcome Garioch. I live Pacific northwest too...but in BC. ;)

Welcome, my friend...and we certainly don't mind those who add to discussion right away. :D

Thanks for what you are your wife are doing, it can't be said enough. Military families sacrifice a lot even in peacetime (and that's certainly not where we're at right now)...and I for one appreciate it very much.

Hail, and well met, ranger Garioch! If the elves can break of some of the good wine, I have a fine Kaladim cheddar here, and we shall toast your arrival in grand style.

{Why so many gamers named after scotch whiskey? Talisker on the OVF, Garioch here... Not that I'm complaining, mind you.}

I dont know scoth and cheddar, hmmm sounds a little controversial to me!

Anyway hello Garioch and thanks for what you and your wife do for us here! As for being old, if you know how to properly aim and fire a Congreve rocket then you are old!!!!!

I will ding 42 in a few weeks here, so a tad older yes.

Congreve Rocket?
No, but I was a Vulcan Gunner and I am still licensed for a Gamma Goat. Does that count?

Okay, now I KNOW I spend too many hours in a virtual world. I read this line and puzzled over it for a good minute and a half. I was trying to figure out which game he was going to ding 42 in. After reading the bottom part of his post, I decided to my satisfaction that it must be SWG. It was only after I went to another post that it dawned on me that he meant IRL. Doh!! :o

Is that the cheddar into putrid Yak cheese and Monterey Jack into Limburger?
