I was wondering if I am just wasting my time trying to find my 40 spell Drain Energy. I cant buy it from a trainer. Is it quested or is getting abilities from mobs still in? I was just hoping its still in game for our class!

I was pretty sad to see it gone as well :(
I'm assuming they removed the spell.. I hope it's just on a mob somewhere, though, it would help so much.

What I've assumed from this one is that they took it out for tweaking after seeing how its overpowered. The mechanic of the ability likely acted off of a Percentage of the mobs health, and unless its been changed, mobs have unlimited mana at the moment (I'd quote where this was said but it was on the old beta forums). X% of Unlimited is alot of mana :P.
Just an assumption though!

Well i dont see a problem with it acting off a % of mobs health i mean cmon its a lvl 40 spell with no upgrades to it.... Throw sorcerers a bone on something at least....

necros have a spell that does moderate damage on a 6sec cast with an energy drain component. Itīs not worth casting for the dmg, but i sometimes used it on caster mobs.
If mobs really have unlimited mana and thatīs the reason they took out this sorcerer spell, i wonder why Wraith Touch (Necrospell) is still in game?

I assume you mean Spectre's Touch. Unfortunately, though Spectre's Touch is "supposed" to remove energy from the target, it doesn't and hasn't ever given that energy back to the Necro.
Frankly there are almost no Necros in PvE that ever use the spell, and it is rarely used in PvP unless as an opener because it has a 6 sec cast time.
In PvE its next to useless (in addition to the slow cast time) because of the fact that mobs have unlimited mana. What good does it do to drain 500 pts of mana from a mob that has 1 million mana points, especially since a Necro doesn't gain the 500 pts of energy.

its only supposed to drain mana not "siphon" the mana to you. Also Spectre touch is used in PvP and cast time doesnt really matter if you want to mez and start of with spectres touch... I see it used all the time.

I never said differently with regard to the mana "drain" vs "siphon". I was trying to clear that up for the rest of the posters who seemed to equate ST with the Sorc Drain Energy spell which DID return energy to the Sorc.
In PvP, ST really only works as an opener because of the 6 sec cast time. Yes, you will see it used at the beginning of a fight, but it will seldom be used again in the middle of a fight because it takes so long to cast. If you compare the % that ST is cast in PvP with other Necro spells, its pretty far down the list (though not quite at the bottom).
In PvE, its utter carp.

well yes sorry didn't mean to seem aggresive to you I also was just clarifying that it wasn't supposed to give energy back.... also Isn't Spectre's Touch on like a 5 min recast? so can only really be used once in a fight anyways.

No, its on a 1 sec cooldown, its the 6 sec casting time that makes it useless. As a DD spell it's less damage than Bone Spike/Bone Spear line which cast twice as fast. Plus Necros have other spells (mostly DoTs) which are insta-cast. With DoTs working again in PvP, you'll probably see Necros adjusting their tactics quite a bit.
The only utility ST has in PvP is to drain off an intial chunk of a caster's mana. After the initial drain, there are much better spell lines to choose from.
