Diplomacy for dummies?

Is there a player written guide somewhere that is a little better to follow than the in-game tutorial for diplomacy? I've gone through it now three seperate times, one of which on a different race and I'm not getting the skinny on it. I see quite a few folks doing it in the Dwarven city so there must be some fun in it, I just am not grasping the card game. Some folks that I try the diplomacy with just wreck me, they seem to have a card for everything and I just can't get that slider back down to my side for the life of me. Also I'm slightly confuzzed about what type of cards to stack up (strategy I guess that is) based on what type of conversation I'm fixing to have with the NPC (gossip, incite, etc...).

Thanks Fl1pper, that helped. That guide broke it down a little better and referenced the trainer's dialogue enough to give me some referance.
