Hello,
Could you post a little more details on monk soloability?
(1) How many mobs can you take on at once?
(2) Are adds a problem?
(3) What is the highest lvl 2-dot (i.e. +1 your level, +4, etc) you can take on?
(4) What is the highest lvl 3-dot?
(5) What mobs should you be taking on solo to get the best xp/hour?
(6) How much downtime is there?
(7) I really want to try the drunken style because I think that's cool, but it looks kinda gimp for soloing. Is it okay?
(8) I already have a disciple. Are monks in any way better soloers than disciples?

As a level25 Kojani Harmonious Monk using 1 level27 Heroic knuckle and 1 level34 Rare:
(1) How many mobs can you take on at once?
3 level -3 2dots at most - I can kill one out of the 3 burning all the jin and endurance and then I FD.
(2) Are adds a problem?
Yes very much. If only 1 add I can FD, then Nerve Strike to stun one and work on the other. Any more adds I FD. Not worth the risk.
(3) What is the highest lvl 2-dot (i.e. +1 your level, +4, etc) you can take on?
I'd say +1 with moderate risk, +2 with 50/50 chance of me ending up FD.
(4) What is the highest lvl 3-dot?
Havn't really tried to solo 3-dots post avoidance nerf. I'd say I can probably do a -4 3dot with moderate risk.
(5) What mobs should you be taking on solo to get the best xp/hour?
About -2 2dots.
(6) How much downtime is there?
Alot since our only heal is on 5min timer. Have to rely on food to regen hp.
(7) I really want to try the drunken style because I think that's cool, but it looks ginda gimp for soloing. Is it okay?
Drunken is gimped towards soloing, it's geared more towards off-tanking, but drunken can't off-tank now.
(8) I already have a disciple. Are monks in any way better soloers than disciples?
Besides monks do about 30% more dmg and have more attack styles, NONE. Disciples can heal whenever they want, and that alone makes Disciples 100000 times better at soloing.
I'd say that's about right on...
I would only add that with 3 dots if you meditate to full jin, use some strategy, get lucky and hit some finishers, dodge now and then, heal and use your racial ability, you can sometimes take out an even con or +1 3 dot, depending on the mob and your gear.

The first question should have been:
(1) What level are you?
Which brings me to: Bonz, your monk is lvl 18 right? What path? At what level was the last time you killed an even con 3-dot and which mob was it?
The reason I ask is the only 3dot I dared to engage during my 20s had to be lightblue or green and I have to know beforehand that they have fewer hp then the norm. Now at level 30, even con 2dot can provide a challenge. (My gear and weapons are always blue/yellow and above my level.)

(1) How many mobs can you take on at once?
3 lvl 7
2 lvl 8,9
1 lvl 10
1 lvl 11
1 lvl 12
(2) Are adds a problem?
Depends on the hunting area really, but a lot of times, yes.
(3) What is the highest lvl 2-dot (i.e. +1 your level, +4, etc) you can take on?
1 lvl 13 2-dot
(4) What is the highest lvl 3-dot?
lvl 11 (one level below me at the time)
(5) What mobs should you be taking on solo to get the best xp/hour?
I seem to have more success with caster mobs right now.
(6) How much downtime is there?
Very little right now, if you survive the fight, the downtime is fine.
(7) I really want to try the drunken style because I think that's cool, but it looks kinda gimp for soloing. Is it okay?
No idea.
(8) I already have a disciple. Are monks in any way better soloers than disciples?
No personal experience, but from what I've read, disciples are much better soloers.

Hello,
Could you post a little more details on monk soloability?
I am a level 34 Harmonious monk-name is Shamius
(1) How many mobs can you take on at once?
I can easily kill 2 mobs my level or below, +1 mobs, two at a time isnt worth the risk to reward ratio, and especially not +2 mobs...unless of course you can stun one and focus on one until it is dead.
(2) Are adds a problem?
Adds of the same level arent too big of a problem if the add makes 2, if the add makes 3 FD and pray that it works, stun one, fd again so the others run, and kill the mob that is stunned.
(3) What is the highest lvl 2-dot (i.e. +1 your level, +4, etc) you can take on?
The highest level 2-dot mobs i can take without heal is +2. +3 mobs require an ignore pain towards the end, not because their damage is that much better, but the hp of the mobs drags the fight much longer.
(4) What is the highest lvl 3-dot?
The highest level 3-dot mob would be a -1 mob, usually with a heal at higher levels, again because the hp drags the fight. An even 3-dot mob will kill a monk with relative ease at higher levels, unless you can get ur stun off in the middle of a fight and pray for a legendary crit:D
(5) What mobs should you be taking on solo to get the best xp/hour?
I found the best xp for soloing is even or +1 mobs that are 2-dots. I can easily kill 3-4 without downtime and facing one at a time, but for quest experience...try taking kill quests of mobs +2 and even +3 the kill experience to quest experience ratio is very good:)
(6) How much downtime is there?
Again...not much downtime with even or +1 mobs, but beyond that you will need food inbetween fights.
(7) I really want to try the drunken style because I think that's cool, but it looks kinda gimp for soloing. Is it okay?
I played drunken in beta, and it is ok for soloing if you have single mobs. Your dodge is better and damage is decent.
(8) I already have a disciple. Are monks in any way better soloers than disciples?[/QUOTE]
Absolutley not! Disciples will hands down out grind a monk killing the same mobs because of heals and the 2 buffs they place on themselves. Wisdom of the Grasshopper is a great addition for disciples. Monks do more damage now after the nerf from 2 patches ago to disciples, but healing yourself minimizes MUCH downtime!!
Any other questions let me know! I am a level 34 monk on the server Woefeather. Name is Shamius in game also:)
