View Full Version : for all the wariors who thikn they are the only ones this has happened to:
Several patches ago Dreadknights had the entire 'Cull' line of lifetaps removed without so much as a patch note or any dev explanation or comment. This is akin to removing the paladin line of single target heals with no replacement or comment.
Then the other DrK method of healing, Scythe of Doom was utterly destroyed due to b.s. hype on the message boards about someone solo farming grey con mobs. Then people supporting the nerf started making impossibly claims about the power of this ability, and despite explanations to the contrary the ability was made completely worthless.
Now that's two clas-defining abilities DrK's have lost.
As a matter of fact, DrK's have gotten stealth-nerfed in just about every patch with higher costs on spells and abilities, lowered damage, higher refresh timers, etc.
But it hasn't been in the patch notes and people have been less vocal about it than this latest Warior issue (probably because more poeple play wariors).
Anyway, don't feel alone, and count yourselves lucky that it hasn't been worse.

I have to agree here. But every also has to think this is a grouping game and a tank, whether you play it that way or not, is quite essential in that role. DRK/WAR/PAL are tanks and a highly valued part of any group.
Oh darn, you cannot take that even con 3 dot. Reach out, find a friend and conquer it together. Both of you have the quest? Well looky there, both of you got credit for the kill and you killed the mob in less than half the time. Ohh! That means that you will get the quest done faster and be able to do more quests in the same amount of time. Ohhh! That means you will get more quests done in the same time, which means you will get more experience, which means you will level faster. Ohh! I know, get another person in the group and you might be able to do better quests which give more experience, better kills, better experience...
I could probably follow this line of thought for what would amount to a complete book. This is a grouping game. Non a solo game. Yes, there is some solo content for those times that you do not have the time to find a group before work/school/RL. Save that content for then. When you have extended hours to play, find you a friend/stranger and group up, do the more difficult stuff. If this were a solo game, would there really be a need for an internet connection to play it?

I'll find a way to live without this if I have to, but there are some pretty significant differences in the viability of DKs and Warriors. There are also some pretty significant differences in the base damage of all the DRK abilities and all the warrior abilities. Those differences are that DRK by default hit things hard when they fire off an ability. Warriors on the whole hit like Mr Sissypants if it isn't a finishing move, particularly with the weakness not firing off on Deva Blow > BS.
I find it extremely amusing that you say this:

When all of the classes you lit yourself as playing are full capable of soloing an even level 3 dot in average gear.
Its easy to say the someone else is a overreacting when you aren't affected by the change.
If sprint isn't up and you realize you have overstepped your bounds, every single one of the classes you quoted has an escape. If sprint is down and the warrior realizes he overstepped his bounds. He is dead. Period.
Am I saying that other classes don't get killed or something can't go wrong to make the escape mechism fail.. no. Does every other class (other than perhaps rogue since I haven't played it past 11) have an escape mechanism avaliable? yes. Oh and please don't attempt to say the 3 second root on devastating blow makes a difference. That would be laughable.

Got to love people posting videos that make the Devs nerf your class (Jooma).

The classes I have lit up are classes I may play in the future and are name place holders only. DK is my only character that I play (level 35 now) daily. The hits are not particularly hard for DK if you take into account what we have to give up to be able to hit with any sort damage. First, we have to use a 2 handed weapon due to all our specials being some percentage of weapon damage. Yes, Wrack and Ruin may be 400% damage but they require a crit to trigger. Using a 2 handed weapon takes away from our AC/mitigation as we don't use a shield. Second we have to up our dex to increase our crit chance so other stats take a hit due to us keeping dex at max.
I guess the point I am trying to make here is that the grass is not as green as these boards seem to make them. Every class in the game has something they would like to have changed, a nerf incoming that will drastically change them, or some other class changing change that will make them something different. All classes get nerfed or buffed. It is part of the game. The constant pointing to other classes for this and that usually only ends up in only not getting what you want but taking some others classes abilities and throwing them out the window. What ultimately happens is two classes are nerfed.
Class envy and comparison kill more than just your enjoyment, but others as well.

You don't HAVE to use a 2hander to get the most from your abilities. That is your misperception.
You appear lazy and can't seem to stand switching weapons in combat.
As there is NOTHING but your own self preventing you from doing this.

The thing is.... I can barely take 2 dots around my level now... I'm level 30. a mob 2 level below me, is still a pretty tough match. A mob same level as me, it's a 50-50... My chance of winning rely solely on my crit to open decimate. A fight that goes by without any crit for a little while means very high death chance to me.
It is annoying. I am in no way a solo player. I love to group. But when I'm awake playing at 3AM PST, there are just no one around to group and I really love to be able to do some farming missives during the said time.
Group are not always there everytime I want one.... really.
My gear is not uber, but at least I'm certain they are not gimped either. I've been doing lots of quests and get upgraded piece all the time. Using 1h sword with 35DPS.

Lets discount the fact that youcould equipment swap to get the effect out of your two hander.
I have two words that invalidate DK having a difficult time solo.

Ok. First off, I played an SK in EQ1 back when they were fun to play. Back before the steel brotherhood had their way and nurfed the crap out of SKs so bad so few were playing them anymore and they became THE least played class and did not even bother fighting back. Back before warriors were able to get away with demanding 10k plat to tank a mob because only warriors could do it.
People listen to me good. You will hear one excuse after another for nurfing this class and that. DO NOT LISTEN. If they get their way, the player base for both paladins and dk's willl be gone, there will be no one left to fight back and the dev's will just say "give the warriors what they want again, since they and rangers make up the majority of fighter classes as everyone else but a few stragglers have left.
I do not want to play another class because my favorite one is not viable. I do not want to two box a cleric to get a group because even your friends can't afford the drag you become in a group when nurfed that bad. Please don't do the same hateful BS that was done in EQ1. I for one will not sit through it this time. If it happens again I guess even I will make a ranger or a warrior =(

Allow me to clarify. I do not believe the DK or other classes need to be nerfed. My response was based on the "boo hoo" deal with it "its not that big a change" type posts that came about after the warriors started bitching about being nerfed. My point was that its easy to say "deal with it" when you're not te one taking it up the pooper at that point in time.

Snare and fear?
funny.. my snare associated skill (conjuration) is at 90 and my normal spells which can be leveled normally are at 210 (iirc).
What does this mean?
Snare is resisted a LOT, and by a lot i mean i can waste 75% of my mana bar attempting to snare(let me just clarify, thats about 16 casts while i chain fear it). I've really really been trying to level it but its about as bad as trying to level a weapon from 0 when you are in your 20's.
SNARE IS UNRELIABLE
Right now any class can tank fine, but it remains to be seen if raid guilds will shun other tanks or if only 2-3 per raid are allowed. most will already have the mentality from EQ (warriors are best.. nuff said) because in every other game, the hybrid tanks were jokes.
It'll be interesting for sure.
