Dont know if this has been done before but i think my most memorable moment in Vanguard was when i first loged in. Dont get me wrong ive been waiting for this game for years and got caught on all the hype. So what was your first impression?
First time i loged, lol i panicked i tought my Videocard didnt have any drivers or i was running Direct X 7! I couldnt move, everything looked like crap and i think the expression that would best describe the look on my face was "Like a deer caught in the headlights" After a few hours of troubleshooting my computer i realized that was how the game is supposed to look! There was even part of a fence stuck, jerking in the wall! surely this cant be the Vanguard ive been waiting for years! and this was in standard mode! then i ran fastest performance! If this was a joke it wouldnt be funny! Kinda like pushing your grandma down the stairs (Except that would be mildly funny), EQ1 looked a lot better than this garbage and that was before Luclin! Excluding the half Elves helmets ofcourse, so i realize i should had quit just then but no....i kept playing, the graphics arent everything in a game after all right? Well i ran around, and ill spare you the gory details but to sum it all up, it was not nice. Playing this game is an effort in futility, even if you take out all the bugs and fix the graphics, this game is just repetitive, fetch me this go kill that etc etc. so i cant believe when i hear people saying that it will get better, because if it does it will be a different game! everything looks so unispired! just like a bland hack and slash game with boats (I do love boats).
I dont mean to sound like im flamming, and i know your thinking if you hate it so much why bother posting? but ive just wasted 50 bucks on this, not to mention years of antisipation(sp?) i feel like my dreams were crush, like when you discover Santa didnt exist! So i guess i deserve the right to let this out out somewere and everywhere else i look all i see are mindless hype drones yelling wait 6 more months, it will get better, or go back to WOW u noob l33t suxxor XD!!!111. Well this is just my opinion and thank you Silky Venom for the Volcano i feel much better :p
So what was your first impression?

My first impressions were an error message that told me my video card didn't support the shaders to run Vanguard.
$1500 later (It was time for a new computer anyhow) and the game is great. Done some really amazing things with quests (They aren't all kill/loot quests, believe it or not...though they are in the majority).

Right now im running a dual core AMD 64 (A bit over 3GHz) 2Gigs DDR2 Dual Channel Ram and a ATI Radeon X1150 256 Not top of the line but way above the minimum reqs, for some reason i cant run on the default mode

Ah...
Found your problem. Let me explain to you how ATI lables their video cards.
The first part the X1 refers to the DirectX version that your card supports. The X1 series is the DX 9.0c, so in that respect you are good to go.
The next number refers to the grade of your card.
1-3= Buisness Model
4-6= Mid Range
7-9= High end
So you've actually go the lowest end of the DX 9.0c series of cards. The "50" I believe points to the fact that it's the second revision of the card. So with an x1150 you've got the second edition of the crapiest DX 9.0c compatible graphics card. That card is built to do things like run Microsoft Excell and Access and be mass distributed to companies that need huge computer networks. Not for gaming....never for gaming.
I'm sorry man, but it's not the game It's your POS video card.

Oh ok makes sense since im in a latop, i have an all in Wonder card that i can try but somehow i dont hink it would be worth it, thanks for explaining the numbers tough, i used to think X stands for 10 since my previous one is 9800. I 50% agree with you tough i think both my card and the game are POSs wich makes it one epic pile of shit ^^^

Well, actually, the 9800 would probably be able to play the game on Balanced with ~25 FPS after some tweaks. No idea why you went from a 9800 to an X1150. Sounds like you got duped.
But anywhooo.... the game isn't as bad as you make it out, and if you had given it a fair chance instead of being up in arms about how crappy it looked and thinking that it looked like crap and couldn't run on an "Above the Min-Requirements" computer (Which you didn't really meet)....you might have enjoyed yourself.
There are some really neet events and quests and junk other than what you seem to have experienced.

Well im not exactly happy about wasting 50bucks either, ill try it on my other computer then to see what happens, altough patching at my speed could take all night

I mean... don't expect something amazing out of the 9800, but if I'm not mistaken it'll perform better than the x1150.
I'm not expert on Video cards... you might want to post in the Tech Support forums and see if Fozzik or Rabbit can help you and see if your other computer would run it better.
Not all is lost!

Hey whats the difference between a normal 9800 and all in wonder? all i notice was a bunch of cables that i never use and the 400$ price tag when i bought it. I know is supposed to be for video editing?

Well the ATI series goes like this
9 = DX 9.0
x = DX 9.0b
x1= DX 9.0c
Nvidia
5 = DX 9.0
6 = DX 9.0b
7 = DX 9.0c
8 = DX 10

Hrm...I'm not sure you'd have to ask someone in the Silky Venom tech support forums for some numbers on that. I just have a passing knowledge of it.

Actually, now that I think about it. I think the "All in Wonder" has features like TV Tuning and a bunch of other features that don't matter to your computer or gaming.
It doesn't effect performance at all.
Anywho...leaving work, so I'll catch you later if you choose to stick around. If not...well...I hope you find a game that is to your liking =P

The All-In-Wonder series is a multimedia card (you know hooking up your television to your computer, doing crap with photos, etc.)

I'm using a 9800 AIW Pro, and I get 20-25 fps on the highest performance setting outdoors. Of course, it looks like EQ when you do this, but it's playable.
In towns, it drops to 15 - terrible.
This is with a AMD 2.0, 2.5b ram and a huge page file on a separate drive.
