Since the latest patch, /itemuse has been giving me the message "You must equip that item to use it." Is anyone else having the same problem? My poor little Mercurial Infineum Rod is feeling neglected. If this is intended, could the Devs possibly give us a macro command that will let us use the item we have equipped? I would much rather be clicking my greatstaff of ages if we had a macro that could do it. ;)

Just drag the staff to the hotbar, and don't try and macro it. It'll work equipped that way.

This problem happened before patch.
Some staves have name not recognize by the command /itemuse. You can drag icon to hotkey bar and use it but can't use with /itemuse.
I reported it few times already but nothing happened.
I remember seeing a dev post a week or two back that staves/wands were never intended to be used from inventory, and only when equiped. But obviously /itemuse only worked from inventory. I have heard (but have not logged into game to try it since the latest patch) that if a staff/wand is equiped you can use /cast "clickeffect" to cast it, so if your staff adds Fire Bolt V, try /cast "Fire Bolt V" as if it were any other spell you knew.
That doesnt work. You cant /cast "Infineum Strike" or anything else for that matter. It says you dont have that ability. So you cant /itemuse in your inventory anymore but you still cant macro an item you have equipped. Seems like a 1 sided "fix".
Oh well.

so...... the days of adding the click effect spell to your damage spell macros are over?
To use a click effect now you'd have to actualy click the hotbar icon for said effect, between nukes or something?
More realistic I suppose..but i'm not taking the time to right click my wimpy 100 DD staff between nuke spams :(
(hmm, if this stays as is, I could skip that whole CIS quest line .. its anoying getting groups and everyone is always on a seperate quest line anyways there)
If you use the G15 there is a way around it but you have to add about 0.4 seconds worth of delay into your macro

Given that you could /itemuse a staff that you couldn't equip, (I've been using a L38 staff for extra dps since L20) I am not surprised they fixed this. Now you really do have to make a choice between carrying two focus items or actually weilding a wand or a staff, whereas before it was a no brainer (equip the focus items and pack the highest level staff/wand you could buy in your bag).

If this is intended, then they really need to make a command to let you use your equipped item. There is no macro I am aware of that allows you to do this, and it will severely hurt caster dps if they do not give us this option. I always saw the click macro as being our answer to melee white damage. We need that back.

Step one: Drag Staff to hotbar slot
Step two: Set spare mouse button to activate hotbar slot
The problem will be, do you want to equip a staff/wand for the occasional extra dps, or focus items for % increase to spell damage?
I only really found the staff damage useful when I was kiting 4 dot mobs which is a kind of broken thing to be doing any way imho. It was more useful against 3 dots at earlier levels, but as I have levelled I find that I would rather have two focus items than a staff. Possibly a wand with good stats and a focus item would be an acceptable compromise, but it would have to be great stats.
I would agree with you up there Tatt but the Yanvil clicky is so strong that it's such a nice damage boost to have it's worth doing. I did like the guy above mentioned and made it a button on my mouse. I've turned it into a routine of sorts so that it's more or less reflex now. I just mouse button, 2, mouse button, 3, mouse button, q, etc. because the staff clicky cooldown is just about the same duration as the global cool down (just a bit longer). So for 500+ damage clicky I can wait just a tad longer.
I do think there should be a macro to use equipped items but this works until that happens
To be honest I would prefer they actually make the Robe of Eternity or the eternal robe (the chest reward from the CIS quest line whatever it's called) that has the Srivata's Impatience that doesnt do anything and +3 to regen actually work. That would be one of my priorities if I worked for Sigil since it's a heroic chest piece for casters that doesnt do sh!t.
