View Full Version : Question for experienced diplomats out there (200+)

Greetings.
I recently reached a diplomacy skill of over 205, standard set of Thestran cards + most of the registered quest cards. Got rebuttals for every type except demand, 2x2-cost cards that advance 3 influence on every type of card. Pretty standard 200-ish setup.
But, i'm at a loss of where to head next for advancing diplomacy skill. Almost every NPC in Tawar Galan that has 225-250 uses a set of demand-cards that i can't counter. Haven't found any NPC's in NT that allow civic diplomacy. Found one trainer in Khal who is beatable, but only has 3 different parleys on a pretty high refresh timer.
Are there any more efficient spots? Am i lacking certain cards? Where should i go?

I found 3 spots I really liked for 225-250.
1. Martok, Drum Beaters around center hut.
2. Hator Zi Fort outside main city building
3. CB Chamber of Tombs

When I'm stuck I tend to go to Leth Nurae - there are numerous clusters of same-level npcs there.
[Whether they're beatable is another question.]

My main color is green, my class color is yellow.
I did nobles in Ca'iael Brael from low to mid 200's there is a full room of nobles right next to one of the diplomacy trainers.
I did domestics in BC from mid 200's to low 300's. The miners near the pub. There is a group of 6 or so right in that area.
I just pick the presence I want to work on and go to it, if I get beat I tweek the deck til it works on multiple npcs in one area w/o switching cards. I was at a point also having my prestige faction come into play when choosing a location but I maxxed all those so don't pay attention to that anymore. (working on remaxing new targ after buying that uber  map for 500 prestige)
I still almost never use rebutalls in normal parley's. If I do a parley other than R/G/Y or R/G/B/Y they can prove useful but otherwise simply over influencing still worked fine in the 200's. (Though if I am in skill up mode I don't do parley's that are not my strengths)

Warning, reading info on this quest, namely the presence requirement after you go to the NPC after receiving the map, may cause you to pass out.
I dare not post such a number here.
Although it is good to buy the map now (in my opinion) and get it out of the way so you have more useful stuff to buy in the future when more stuff is introduced and you'll be back at max prestige.

<faints>
should be <feints> I suppose, given the mental anguish they endured. That is a VERY funny story. I like their moxy.
I think there are very good reasons to slowly level up in all three spheres, not simply because of these enormous gaps in content that suddenly arise...
