View Full Version : Trivial loot code?

Is there a trivial loot code in this game?
If a mob is grey to one member, heroics or no loot drops at all?
My play group is level 47+, and we killed the named in River Palace tonight and she dropped no loot.
Other people in my guild are reporting that named do not drop anything greater than yellow if the mob is gray.
Anyone else encountered this?
If so, that is really upsetting. I was under the direct impression that this game had no trivial loot code.

Several threads have dev's posting that there is indeed TLC in place the exact rules for it i don't know but i do know that they can tag any item to ignore TLC. It was causing particular problems in Karrus Hakkrel with some quest items.

The trivial loot code at the moment just gives a % chance for a grey mob to drop no loot afaik. We killed a grey 6dot about 8 times and it dropped no loot 1 time. I also killed a few grey named mobs and again, 1 dropped nothing out of about 6 kills. I guess the lower level the mob the higher the %, but I'm not sure of that.

I realize there are pages on it, but thats horrible.
Why do I have to do everything in a specified order to get rewards out of it? This mob is pretty contested, and we just finally got a key. And to make it worse, it was only grey to only one person in the group - the one person we had level 48 instead of 47.
And now, because there are very few loot drops above 43ish, there is 0 point in trying at all.
TLC sucks.

I think they shouldn't make quest items like that subject to TLC; it just causes too many problems.

I stopped paying attention to the TLC threads near the end of Beta 3.
But as I recall the way it works is High level characters can't tag Grey mobs. So if you are fighting a grey mob and a level appropriate character comes along and does 5% of the damage to the mob, they get credit and all loot and an appropriate % of XP based on the damage dealt.
At least that is how it worked last time I paid attention.

Well if there is a trivial loot code in effect, then they need to shut off ALL grey aggro, as there should be some benefit to getting gnawed on by things that don't give exp anymore.

is pretty shitty to hit 50 and not be able to farm for gear... very little gear available to get at 50, so being 48-50 is pretty sad indeed b/c the one thing we figured (my group) could go do, we cannot do anymore.
tlc is FTL, they need to remove this shitty feature b/c for the most part heroic and legendary drops are soulbound anyways... so wtf is the point in tlc?

Trivial Loot code should get a hard look by the devs. I spent 5 hours trying to complete a quest and got one piece out of 4 pieces needed lost the roll from my group and then they disbanded. We thought that we would be determined. Well we were for about 5 hours.....getting zero experience....and a chance in hell for a quest item to drop. I said to myself i can go kill higher level mobs save the money get the experience and buy the dumb weapon.
Think about it....spend 5 hours in a group of 6.....get one quest item to drop....each roll need....now 1 out of 6 has it IN FIVE HOURS.....the amount of time to get all 4 pieces would be phenominal!! no way am i gonna waste all that time....like 120 hours of killing grey mobs and doing nothing but that....not to mention the time spent forming the group....running over to the hunting grounds....and running around chasing down the appropriate mobs that MIGHT drop it....
P.S. then you have to worry about the ones that are the appropriate level for the mob to whack it a few times and wait for you to finish it and take the loot....../SIGH
Well if there is a trivial loot code in effect, then they need to shut off ALL grey aggro, as there should be some benefit to getting gnawed on by things that don't give exp anymore.
Agreed. Grey aggro with no xp and TLC is just silly.

Get rid of Trivial Loot Code and ADD every item dropped off a gray mob is AUTO-soulbound. This way remove the hassle of cant get anymore loot with high level, and removes the ability to farm for quick gold which is why they put it in. problems solved.

Exactly!
Kind of sick of having sorta crappy gear at level 50 and go back to kill some 6 dot 40ish named (that can still 2 shot you btw) and have it drop nothing becasue its grey.
Either add high end gear or remove this silly code.

TLC isn't just about keeping the market from being flooded, its also about keeping high level players out of noob dungeons. You may think it's frustrating to solo a grey mob and not get anything for it. It is by far more frustrating to fight your way through a dungeon and get to a boss to find it being camped by a level 50 who won't leave. And then in order to get the gear that you went there to get you have to buy the items off of the Exchange broker who cockblocked you in the first place.
So where making items soulbound on pickup for grey mobs would solve the market issue, so those high levels couldn't sell. You still have the issue of people who BELONG in a particular dungeon competeing for spawns with someone who really has no business being there.

so the only solution you got is one area out of the whole game to get loot >< woot rubicite camping
razad is nice and hard since no CC works. but come on we went into rahz and unless you are talking about past the wall of flame, and back behind it is some named that drop some nice heroic swords/one handers and tank/heavy gear guess what?
ive done rahz and unless that last item pass added something besides above, all i saw was some nice caster and healer loot , heroic.
and that was at like level 46-48 we were there and stuff was blue.
the stuff was level 44 i think which is grey.
there is huge issue right now with no where to go, besides rahz, which is pretty busy right now seeing as how its the only zone with loot apparently and the new quests.. its pretty busy lagfest. but point remains there is little to nothing to do at 50. and the things we wanted to go and get cannot be gotten b/c you feel that heroic lower level items which are soulbound will imbalance the game i guess?
if a lower level , lets say 38-44 item is an upgrade to a level 50 he should be able to get it and wear it since there are not any options. you got ceros and rahz and maybe razad itemized?i still have yet to see any good heavy drops except for a ring and bracers, both form ceros.
level 50s should be able to go and farm some lowbie heroic soulbound gear, and use it til they can take on level appropriate content, or have something to do atleast while waiting on content to be added.

There's well over 50 named that are currently killable in Rhaz atm, all of which are itemized, and there are MANY items that drop that are designed around light and heavy fighters.
All adventuring items are currently capped at level 46 on Live; that cap will be removed before the next patch and the items that you collect now from level 47+ NPCs will be 47-53+ at that patch.
Poing being, there's a full chunk of over 250+ level 44+ items there just waiting for you to collect. If you've only received level 44 items, it means that you've only killed level 44 NPCs. I'd suggest changing out of your skirt and attempting to fight one of the level 50+ named; it's items will be 50+ after the next patch :D
I'm painfully aware of the fact that there are many 45-50 dungeons that are lacking itemization, primarily because they're not completely finished. That should partially change this coming week. Regardless, TLC on Heroic+ items is there to prevent you from ruining the play experience of that level 40 person that actually delved into a dungeon in order to find a boss with his/her group. I will NOT apologize for ruining your experience in order to preserve the experience of a group of level 40 adventuers.
What I will CONTINUE to do is spend more time than any normal working human being in an effort to make sure that the level 45+ crowd has some place, even if it's just Rahz, to get items. All of the items created, tweaked and added for Rahz were added by me outside of normal working hours. I'm going out of my way to make sure that people like you, who are ahead of the curve, still get some reward for slaying Big Nasties :D

From the 2-3 hours we were in there the other night - aside from about 10 of us getting 0 FPS for 90% of the raid, everything I've seen that's dropped in there has been pretty awful. I've seen level 30-40 items that have better stats. And please for god's sake let us disable particle effects. Raiding isn't going to be close to possible without that option.
edit: and I forgot to mention half of the mobs in the top part of the dungeon are bugged. Once they are aggroed they stand on the tank's head and he loses line of sight. Other people without aggro get bad LoS issues too. It makes a lot of it a real pain in the ass at the moment.
I'm not trying to bitch, just trying to help get it fixed ;)

Cylus, why don't you guys announce when you itemize something then ? Hint at it perhaps. I've been through most of the 45+ areas and know that most of it is not itemized. What I will not know is when it is itemized and when it will be worth going to.
It's the same with Sigil and bug fixes, why do you not annouce you fixed certain bugs ? Disciples have had their harmonious bonds broken since beta and they were fixed last patch, but there was no notification or anything that they were fixed. It's like you guys are trying to hide that certain parts of the game are still unfinished. All most of us want to know is when an area has been itemized. Most of us don't care how the mobs look or how pretty the colors are, we want to find 'phat lewtz' in the process of looking at the pretty mobs. But no one wants to go kill a pretty mob that has no 'phat lewt'. It just feels like a complete waste of time.
Now, I'm going to go back to chopping wood. That's something you guys should make look better. I'm getting bored staring at the same color trees. But I'll keep doing it, because they have a chance to drop 'phat lewtz'! But I won't go progress through a dungeon to find nothing at all.

Challenge in the encounters is just as important as the "phat lewtz", for me at least. I don't know if you've done any of the "raid" or 6dot content end game but it's pretty laughable at the moment. Our fight with one of the 6dot mobs in thestra consisted of everyone pretty much going afk for 25 minutes (yes it took 25 minutes of beating on him, with 10 people, to kill him). There was absolutely no thought or skill required to kill him. We barely even needed healers. If you're going to make fights that easy at least make the bastard die in 5minutes to save us all the tedium. We had a similar fight with another 6dot for 20 minutes and got him down to ~60% before he suddenly healed back to 100% instantly. The Rahz Inkur encounters aren't much different from these either. It seems the only way they've increased the "difficulty" in an encounter at the moment involves increasing the number of mobs and increasing the hit points of those mobs.

Just to follow up on this. We followed your suggestion last night, killed a level 51 6-dot named Rahluz with a 4-dot adds that cannot be CC'ed, stun, stifled, snared, etc and we got an Uncommon pair of handwraps with 0 stats and a pathetic DR. Where's this so-called loot supposed to be coming from? Are some mobs itemized and others not? Were we just horribly unlucky? A 6-dot named with guaranteed adds, really needs to drop at least yellow with a % chance at Heroic.

Every NPC that is intended to be itemized should be itemized in there. Sounds like you guys and gals just got horribly unlucky :( Name of the item, btw? Just trying to make sure that it wasn't world loot and that it's fixed if it's less than intended :)
Like I said though, over 95% of the items in that chunk will be getting a boost in levels, which will increase their effectiveness.
People are complaining about loot in there, which leads me to believe that there's either something better that they've perhaps seen, they're unlucky or there's just a general problem with managing people's expectations. On the other hand, much of the heroic items in that dungeons are extremely good and will be even better after the next patch :D

fact remains that some very good SOULBOUND items which are huge upgrades for people at level 50 can be gotten , but only by people in the like 35-44 level range?? level 50s need some love, its a soulbound item... tlc should not be applied to heroic soulbound items, it is pointless. let the mobs drop the loot for us even if they are grey...
b/c as of right now you got a lot of shitty geared level 50s with nothing to do, seeing this heroic gear pop up that is huge in upgrades for them... and they cannot get it.
i saw a level 46 guy get a pair of heavy heroic legs with 550+ ac and great stats, while im sitting in 374ac and some statted rare crafted legs, b/c it is the best i can find... that is not right.

Well I don't know much about how you leveled, but when I hear about crappily geared level 50s one thing comes to mind. These people leveled so hard that they skipped content and the chance to obtain gear when they had the right level, all in the interests of getting to level 50 fast. Now they are there and want the game to change to accomodate their desire to level first and do everything else later. Perhaps this isn't true in your case, but I'm sure plenty of level 50s have done just this and that their gear suffers because of it.
Also, so you have crappy legs, we all have some crappy slots. How does the rest of your gear compare. If most or even half of it is great gear for the level then you are all set imo. If you are lacking in every slot then its more than a matter of TLC as I mention below.
Now, if you took your time leveling, and made a point to pursue gear and tried lots of different content, and you still are lacking in gear, then its probably a bigger issues of itemization at the lower leves so that you gear better on your way up to 50. Or its a matter of itemizing the level 50 mobs so that you can get gear at that level.
But, to remove TLC just to deal with poorly geared level 50s, only solves the problem for the level 50s people. Then they can go farm named grey con mobs and take gear from players who are the correct level and also want to kill that named. Soulbound gear or not it doesn't matter. Let people farm grey con mobs for heoric or legendary gear and you will have level 50s taking gear from lower level players. That is the point of TLC imo, to minimize this type of scenario.

save the lv 40 bosses for the lv 40ish people who actually play thru the content and dont rush to 50.

yet we can still kill them and get rare loot, just not the heroic.. farming can still happen... point is heroic stuff that is ugprade, and is being added in as in berenaid hills dungeon and such, we cannot do now or get... is kinda a kick in the face

Add to this the fact that coin is on TLC ... so any mob that is grey to you or your group will no longer drop coin either ... it will still drop rares or vender fodder, but not the actual coin.

Your argument is flawed in more ways then 1.
1. Not everyone was rushing to 50, some just play alot more then others and so they went through the content quicker then others.
2. Static groups get through content quicker then pug groups, period.
3. The issue right now is, between 46-50 there is still some loot found from say hrukstraz that is better then what is found elsewhere.
4. What about this, you got a lvl 39 in your group and your killing 3 mobs, 1 of which is a named. All lvl 34. Kill the 2 other mobs, boom, lvl 39 got 40. Kill named, oh sucks for you, Trivial Loot Code.
5. Soulbound items should not be TLC'ed. I can understand MAYBE bindable ones and if the mob far exceeds your level (not just gray, im talking 10 lvls). Then thats fine. Soulbound shit though is REDICULOUS. Oh sorry, you cant get this loot that you can only sell to a merchant.
6. Deathclaw (i think his name is). If he gets re-entered into game, is he going to be lvl 43? If so, TLC'ed ? If so, this is what will be driving me away from the game. He was in game, you took him out until raid UI is put in, and by the time that is in, the people who are gonna be raiding are allready 50. So you just let one of the first raid targets people were looking forward to killing, be TLC'ed to the people who by-passed its level because you took it out of the game.
I could go on with many more points.
TLC in its current form is a joke.

#4 FTW!
lol let them think on that.
but yea what really gets me is the so called TLC, rare loot can still drop..yet soulbound cannot? someone please explain that to me.
now to me tlc would mean the mob drops no loot...whihc would suck for us trying to farm just to make repairs.. or true tlc in my mind= all loot dropped is soulbound, so you can get upgrades , tlc is in effect, and everyone is happy.. right now t just screws people out of heroic soulbound upgrades.
