View Full Version : Southgate: Beldra's flying mount experience

The flying mount quest (timed 1 hour) you get from Beldra in the southgate zone is bugged/flawed.

If you click the claw item while on your horse, it disappears.
No problem you'd think... just delete the quest and get it a new.
That doesn't work... you can't get the quest again after deleting it.

I was VERY much looking forward to experiencing the flying mount, and now can't.
Another extremely disappointing experience...

Could this quest me made so that you can get it after deleting it, like all the other quests so far?
A little consistency would be nice...

If the concern is that people would just keep getting the quest over and over without ever finishing it, then make it so there is a max nr of times you can get it. But only once, without warning is quite nasty.

In hindsight, the item probably didn't poof, but got equiped to the mount screen.
In this particular case, it would make a lot of sense to open the character sheet on the mount page after right clicking the item in your inventory, so that it's clear it got equiped.

The combination of poof (prolly equip) and not re"get"able quest makes this a recepy for disaster...

Yes - the first time you click it, it equips - just like any other mount.

You can abandon the quest and start it again at Bledra to get more flytime. But - as the quest description say: You can only mount the Griffon at quest specific locations, and that the Young Griffon will run away (disappear) if you fly him too far from the locations.

One of the quest locations are (intentionally?) misleading though - you don't need to go to the nest of ... <some other griffon> to complete the quest. If you chunk over to Bordinar like the quest hints you to do - make sure you have a parachute - because the Griffon goes *poof*.

I got all the way to the quest, but didnt accept it as it was late and it was a 1 hour timer. I went back next day she will no longer give me a quest. I petitioned it twice, both times deleted with not a response at all.

I accidently went over towards bordinar's cleft looking for the quest location, hit the chunk line and without warning proceedd to fall, thank god for bard lev, hit that to save my life.

When I chunked back over I realized i did not have the mount item, so i abandoned, and like others cannot get the quest again.

I'd say fix the quest so you can get it again, and add a location spot for where the quest wants you to go since chunking which you can do without notice, causes the mount to disappear :(

the quest is sharable and if you get someone to share it to you, you will get another mount. Be sure to /bug it.

Hmm... I'll have to look at it to discern why you are unable to obtain the quest again after abandoning. I did not put any specific restrictions in that would prohibit that.

Currently the final portion of the quest line is disabled due to some unforeseen issues, but hope to have it turned back on in the near future.

I did not abandon it like some, but rejected taking it in the first place, and that seemed to prevent me from being able to take it later.

Same here, I really wanted to try out the flying mount.

Ok - that was probably due to that final stage being temporarily disabled while some kinks are worked out.

Once it's re-enabled, it should progress as normal!

Well I was one of the ones that abandoned it, after I accidently chunked since there was no waypoint leading to where to go, and lost the griffon.

There was no way to resummon it so I figured if I abandoned and reaquired the quest I'd get it again but never could.

So there is still a problem with those of us who abandoned it unless it will be fixed with whatever 'reactivation' is necessary.

As posted above, the only way to re-get the quest is by having someone in your group share it.

The quest info is kinda misleading. The info is correct, but the map point that lights up is a roost way north. So if you don't carefully read the text, and head to the waypoint instead, you will fall out of the sky (probably towards instant dead) and you will loose the claw and be unable to finish the quest.

It took us a while to actually figure out where to go hehe (bad corpse runs when you fall out of the sky into inaccessible mountains), and we had 3 people in the group, who where deleting and re-sharing the quest the whole time to be able to finish it (because of the poofing claw) :D

I have a couple questions,

Do you have to do the quest in order to get a flying mount?
Are flying mounts in the game right now?
What is the level requirement to use flying mounts?
How much do flying mounts cost?

I'm a level 34 shaman..I just purchased a boat for 25 gold.I'd much rather have a flying mount If they're in the game now and within my level to get one..I imagined they wqould be restricted until about level 40ish,but I have no idea...

Sorry for the questions,
thanks

This quest is not FOR a flying mount. It uses a *temporary* griffon mount that you don't get to keep and has a limited amount of time and distance you can use it. Flying mounts are in game and working. As far as getting a permanent one, I have no idea if they are able to be bought or quested yet though.
