This kills immersion... It feels like WoW-Light... sorry. I am a bit disappointed with 30+ content.
IŽd love to see just awesome dungeons where we can spend evenings WITHOUT 1000 of boring quests.
Give us interesting nameds with rare items! Make this game feel more... well i dont know EQ1 ish :-)
Where are the Sol A/B,Guk,Trak kind of dungeons?? Why so much cheap quests? Who wants that? Kiddies?

Quests are fine. What's annoying is the limited space for quests. 20? That's it? Ok, find a spot with a lot of quests... uh oh, log full... delete some to make room then 2 days later realize I now how to go pick up some quests from other areas again...
I like quests simply because of the chance at some items, maybe a little extra experience after the kill experience and some coin. But as I said, the limited log size is quite frustrating.
Now, I will agree that the quests that say, "Go talk to Lazy_NPC_002. Come back to me after you talk to them" is boring, worthless and a waste of time. I always mumble something like, "stupid lazy npc's go walk your own butt over there and talk to them!"

sorry but if you are infront of about 40 quests, you wont read any text written in those quest descriptions... in my eyes it is boring and not very innovative. Feels like all the stupid NGE quests you have to do to level in SWG....

Hey Finja,
I think you're refering to Cragwind Ridge, and the Outpost in the cave. I consider this area to be more of an 'in-between' area. It's a nice place to go to for solo-quests (most of them are soloable), or for duos. None of the quests give items, so far as I know, and most give anywhere between 6-12s rewards. It's a good area for small groups, I think.
Also, I'm sure they're adding more epic quest lines. I saw it in the test patch notes, I think...At least they'll fix the 'Death from Above' quest.

Try going to Dargun's or Vol Tuniel or any of the numerous dungeons which are actually dungeons with a couple of quests thrown in.
So you've come across one of the areas which has content primarily designed for solo and small-group questers. That doesn't mean it's the only content in the game.

What Therian said is right on ^^^ Cragwind is great if you want to solo, and not so much if you want epic dungeons...
Thankfully you have options if you want to level in the low 30's, and nobody "forces" you to level one specific way.

One of the big complaints from the grown ups about eq1 was that it was called everquest but it should have been called neverquest. VG fixed that. But if you dont want to quest there are plenty of dungeons you can play in.

Bull crap, it was called Neverquest because it was funny, not gamebreaking, that the title of the game was so misleading.
Players never complained about the lack of Quests in EQ, WoW created the trend with making a quest for even making some tea.

This be true.
The difference was tho that while the quests in EQ were few and far between, they often tended to be just that "quests". Involving several locations, having to figure out what to do, and usually giving a fairly good reward.
It had the silly "turn in item" quests too (who didn't ding one or two alts a few levels by CB belts).
Then the epics, which were.... truly friggin epic when the first came out.
But in recent times, the word "quest" is used for everything, desaturating the word. Kill 10 of that, gather 30 of that by killing 60 of those... With no lore dialogue other than "I don't like those mobs, go kill em".
WoW says it offers 3000 quests or somesuch, in reality I think you can probably call 2500 of em tasks.
I'd like nothing more than for mmorpgs to start putting destinctions between tasks/quests/epics, and not just talking about saying (group) or (elite) behind it. But by showing perhaps a different color. So when that random NPC has an organge quest icon over his head, you know that what you're starting there, you won't finish anytime soon.

Unfortunatly today many players need quests, especially a chain of quests holding their hand to 'have fun'. There is people who moan on the region chat about having no more quests in halgarad, all they would need to do is to go west, but as there is no quest telling them to do so they don't. Hillarious, but not uncommon.
I personally do not like quests in masses aswell, what I like to see is a chain quest that explains an area or dungeon and unfolds over time. Worst of all are these missive boards, that's the most uninventive thing ever, limitless grinding quests to enable people to level fast and efficient without having to move alot. Quests need to get meaningful again, there is some nice ones about, like Infineum or the Trengal Keep Quest Series. But that's all group. Why not have something similar for the solo players aswell? Even for Raiding, always nice to have a backstory. Maybe Sigil lacks the manpower to do it so they just add filler quests so people can advance. Lets hope it changes.

Cragwind is really the exception to a chunk having tons of meaningless quests as every other outpost I've been to (that has quests) all have chain quests many of which I've completed solo by waiting a few levels or waiting til the end to grouping up for the last step.
VG really excels at letting people play the game their own way, and that is win win for everyone.

It's a nice little area for those people that enjoy doing tons of quests. Why rain on their parade? Have you done any of the dungeons that *don't* have tons of quests? If not, you can't blame Sigil, it's your problem for not going out and looking. I'm not going to sit here and spoon feed you locations, since you pretty much decided to bash other people's play style (I'm not one of those people that necessarily like 1000s of quests, so don't think it's that). There are many different types of gamers who enjoy many different things. It was nice that sigil put a little gem in there for the people that like to dup/solo/small group.
And yes, he is referencing Cragwind Ridge at the outpost.

Game has been boring from level 21 to 28 since there are pretty about no quests at all.
If you love grinding fair enough but i don't.
Making Quest all the way long is the way i like to play even if most quests aren't very fun.
So for me it's: more more and more quests, less or NO grinding at all (fill the gaps).

althought I didnt like the exp rewards and silver, there are A LOT of named mobs in there. Most seem to be on a kill X to spawn type.
3 named ticks; Tyxyk, Xyxkt etcc.
3 named Scorpion for sure; Bloodtail, Dondurri, Megalon<sp?>
2 named rock things; Jadeon, Golden Jester. Maybe more.
3 named snakes, names escapes me
there's an area with basiliks as well that I assume named there too but never saw.
But I agree with one thing, 20 quest limits irratates me hehe :)

There's nothing in WoW or VG that forces you to do the quests.
Find some mobs your level and grind away. Level up? Find some higher level mobs and grind on them.

So people that don't have the opportunity to get groups and rely on solo content are kiddies?
Wonderful reasoning there: Because your preferences are different from mine, I deem you inferior.
I'm not a moronic WoW/Vanguard/EQ2 kiddie, but an adult that requires soloable content for the quiet hours when there is time to play. Does being a masochist and requiring a group for all content automatically win me a nobel prize, or is this the new highschool geek trend for those with massive inferiority complexes?

First of all there is plenty of content for the solo player...most of the ones that bitch simply are too damn lazy to look for it. I could solo this whole damn game in 2 months, playing 4 hours a day easy.
Secondly "for those that dont have a chance to group" is just a damn copout to say you dont want to do anything but solo.

No, actually there isn't. I play on a PvP server where Thestra is off-limits to shadow unless you'd like to lose all of your money on hand, or be camped for ages by order.
It took me nearly 30 minutes to get to upside garrison (from roost) for the few quests there that were in my level range. I unfortunately perished while trying to do a solo quest that was marked as yellow in my journal (misleadingly so, because all of the mobs it required me to kill were over 5 lvls above me) and had to run the 30 minutes back with an exp penalty(the bind was in the middle of 26+ territory and I was a lvl 20).
I then ventured to Skawlra after I realized that it was futile to try and find a way to do the quest by myself, so that I had now found a grand total of 4 quests for one hour's worth of travel that brought me barely 1/3rd of an exp bar.
One of the quests involved killing three dots my level, which is an arduous task on a dread knight (or anything besides a sorc/psi)...
You have no idea what it's like on a PvP server, so that you automatically assume that all soloers are "lazy". If you realized that all content is cut in half due to faction monopolies, then I doubt you would maintain that....
Even if I were to do all of the quests on thestra that were my level and soloable, the lack of missives at 18+ would still force me to grind.
If I wanted to grind for a lack of content, I wouldn't have bothered with this game.
Go get to lvl 20+ on a pvp server without grouping more than 2 hrs and tell me more about my lazyness.

It's obvious that there isn't enough content in the game when you're forced to grind. WoW had enough quests so that each faction had enough to do without grinding....
The easiest solution would be to implement guard AI so that Thestra would be accessible to shadow and Qalia would be accessible to order, or they could simply add more missive posts for lvls 20+.
Whether you're PVE or PvP, you will eventually be forced to group/grind. This should never be the case.
PS: No, I'm not going back to WoW, since I've experienced all of the non-raid content. Or.. I'll make a deal: I'll go back to WoW if you cut off your hands.

I disagree. I play on a PVE server and have yet to run out of content at lvl 34. I am not forced to do anything, I level as I see fit and have no problems doing so. Im lvl 34 at 12 days played with 16 levels of crafting and an avg of 1.5 hours of afk time per day. I also stopped both leveling and went to pick up skinning and raised that to over 200. Avg speaking I play 3.5 hours a day currently and at 34 I find it was very easy progress.

That will take some time for me to look into as I did some CIS stuff around that level range. I will check though and get back to you by tommorow. 1 suggestion I can make.. it would be similar to a grind though... is donovans roost has a repeatably kill xx amount and collect xx amount quests. Those result in decent coin, there are plenty of mobs right there below the quest guy to kill for it. I can also say that when you hit 24 head towards river valley. From 20 to 24 though I would need more time.
Again though..I disagree that a pvp server should effect a pve server. If you have the capability of going anywhere in the world then there is plenty of content. PVP was more of an afterthought for this game so I dont think they took into account 1 continent being your only option to level on. Though I will agree that they should patch more quests in just because of that. I will not agree that xp is the factor here.

Thank you for your candid response. I know what quests you are talking about in Donovan's, but each awards a paltry 25 ish copper for 5 mobs... it's a shame they don't have missives there (with at least a nice yellow/blue reward at the end of 10 of them).
I also agree that xp is not so bad, if only all of the time spent getting xp could be spent exclusively with quests.

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I too think they need more quests and missives instead of just mindless grinding.
However, your statement on the bolded part is out of line. Sigil stated right from the beginning that they were going to focus on the group dynamic in this game. It wasn't a secret. They said they would have *some* solo content, but that it wouldn't be as robust as their group content.
They created this game to exist for those who like to group a lot. If you are expecting a ton of solo content you are never going to be happy in this game.
I personally am not long for this game for a multitude of reasons, but lack of solo content wasn't one of them. Quite frankly, I prefer to solo over grouping. But I knew what I was getting into in that regard when I bought the game.
Complaining that Vanguard has little solo content is akin to being unhappy with Guild Wars because it's so pvp focused.

There's a set of quests in CIS which are easy to miss, since they're not at Donovan's Roost. If you've seen the Vihaad camp which is just south as you enter the zone from Ahgram, there's a small tent outside the entrance which has a quest giver with a number of quests.
Strand of the Ancients also has a bunch of kill quests started from the Skrilien Point gnome garrison.
It sounds like you may have missed the teens quests in Jharru Flats, so your next step would be River Valley (through Shidreth Mines in CIS) which has a ton of solo and small group quests for the mid-twenties. Zossyr Hakrel (not Karrus, which is a level or two higher) would be the next place I'd go after that and also Cragwind which will take you into mid-thirties. Then Seawatch.
Having said that, small group is the way to go in this game. Solo has a lot of quests, but if you want a full range of things to do and near-constant questing, you will never run out of small group. [Well, till you hit 40s.]

Moocow If you're 20 and looking for solo content you need to get to Thestra ASAP.
Head to Lakeview - after you can goto Misthaven/Shoreline Ruins or Adyinns Watch. All 3 chunks have lots of solo/duo quests.
It is an unrealistic expectation to try and solo thru on one continent.

Thanks for the info. I have also done the Vihaad quests, since the quest giver in roost gives you a quest to seek out the guy in the little tent.
I've recently attained lvl 21 and neigh lvl 22, so that I can hopefully make it to river valley in one piece.
I managed to get a group tonight, but there are nights where I can't find anybody and I'm left to solo... that is why I think there should always be a good helping of solo quests.
@ Whistling: I appreciate your information, but Thestra is off-limits to shadow, unless you've got a full party of lvl 40+ to back you up.
That's the way it is on a team PvP server: Order are driven out of predominantly shadow areas while shadow are driven out of predominantly order areas.
