Something needs to be done.
People play an MMO to adventure, to quest, to hunt and get loot to improve their character either by equipping or selling the items. The best items drop off of "boss" or "named" mobs and these encounters are set accordingly to be harder and requiring of more strategy than the simple " trash" or common mobs.
This coins the phrase Risk vs. Reward.
VGSoH has got a lot of decent named encounters floating throughout the realms for people to gear up towards killing and to enjoy at the approppriate level. But! Wait a minute - if a player outlevels the named mob and makes it of no challenge then they can still farm it ( farm as in note down the amount of time it takes to respawn into the world, and repeat kill it over and over again, thereby putting this mob on lockdown and unobtainable to other intended level people)
This is a Problem.
The Problem is simple. As more people level up and get the advantage over many greyed out areas in the game, they will begin to find higher level dungeons to be overcrowded, and of course they want loot, to sell to buy the items that the Server Premier adventurers are getting from the higher dungeons that they themselves for one reason or another cannot obtain. So these people will go back - and ARE going back to repeat farm and abuse loot dropping from mobs far below them in challenge.
The knock-on effect of this is that people new to the game will find that they cannot make any coin themselves, and cannot gear up sufficiently by hunting Intended level mobs, and then swapping/selling the equipment to their contemporaries - and that the only way they can get items will be by buying them off of the "grey-farmers" or as some call them , the "Bottom Feeders"
The Extended Problem.
The Extended Problem is that these new to game players, unable to get much gold/items in the way that was ( hopefully) intended will in turn have to find ways to get gold to buy the items to make the game enjoyable and fun for them. So, after struggling around for a few days watching higher levels ganking the mobs they should be killing themselves, if they truly enjoy playing the game they may well turn to those friendly farmers over at that Friedly gold selling site and buy some gold for themselves. Which will most likely get them banned. And that friends, is the result that we really do not need for the game at this stage - New players joining the community, realising that all mobs are getting farmed by higher level, and in the end leaving/getting banned and telling all of their friends not to play VGSoH because of the reasons listed above.
Conclusion.
So the appeal is simple really - sort out this silly situation please. Put the risk back into risk vs. Reward - OR conversely - remove the reward.
Yup that's what I, and a huge portion of the player base is asking for - make a level range for loot drops. Stop completely any items bar trash loot, and any quest items dropping from grey con mobs.
Do this soon before people start to leave over it, and before there are a much larger number of higher levels running around spoiling the game for the rest of the community.
Please, and Thank you.
