I can get the login portion to come up fine, but after the game engine starts to launch, my pc just reboots. Does anyone know if there is a fix to this besides reinstalling? I didn't buy VG from a brick and mortar store, so downloading it again and updating it will take forever.
I have done a full scan on my files as well to no avail.

Hmm, this could be cause of several reasons. What are your system specs?

Heh, no, it's not my power supply. It's this game. All of the 50+ games on my PC run just fine. It's been doing this since the last patch.
AMD64 X2 4400+
Asus A8N
msi 7950 GX2
2GB Kingston RAM (ddr400)
550W Kingwin PSU - Dual Rail
250 SATA Seagate HDD
...not that this matters as it is a software issue

Did you mess with the audio settings? I know they updated the OpenAL, it might have some issues with older sound card drivers.

I forgot to list that I am using a SB Live! 5.1 and I have disabled my onboard audio.

Has to be the game when 1000's of others aren't having this specific problem running the same game.

Try disabling sounds in the ini. See what that gives you. Just a shot in the dark. I know that was the major change from last engine build.
I hear rumors also of a 'cache' directory that can be blown away. That fixes some peoples problems. I just caught that in passing forum posts.

I had the exact same issue. Removed the SB and now the issue is solved. (using on board sound for the moment)

one of my guildies is having this same issue. And another had the same. They said the game patch broke it. But when they released another patch it fixed it. SO maybe wait for the next patch..
I'm not to sure why it does this.

Poor coding in the game, resulting in your video card having to work massively overtime to produce (shite) graphics.
Take out the video card, clean the fan.
If you are ocing the card, take it back to factory standard.
Make sure your card is using the latest drivers.
Open the side of the case and use a portable fan to blow air directly onto your video card.
This is a repeatable issue from the official VG tech forums, and the above worked with a lot of the people experiencing this problem.
Your are 100% correct - it is not your problem, it is Vanguards problem. But you can fix it on your end.

Seems wierd you give hardware fixes than say it's vanguards fault... /shrug

Well I had the exact same issue.
After the last patch the game would crash to blue screen.
I read on the official forums that many people with Creative sound cards had the same issue. I downloaded the latest SB drivers and everything works fine now.
Hope this helps

Actually, my neighbor had this exact same problem a few days ago. He stated that this was after the patch. His pc was due for a reformat, so thats what we did. Everything works fine now after the fresh install.

Right click "my computer", go to "properties", click the "advanced" tab, click the "startup and recovery" button, under the "system failure" heading, UNcheck the box labled "automatically reboot".

I'll bet dollars to donuts that it is your RAM or video card.

Take a look in your system logs (use the event viewer) and see what error was recorded.

Had this exact problem when I changed the audio to my XFI card.
To note:
It will not crash when you make the change in game, during that load, because the change is not yet in effect.
Upon loading the next time, this is when the game loading cause the computer to restart, on the booting full screen when it would first play music.
Solutions:
Edit the ini as outline in the patch notes when they updated OpenAL to get back to default hardware.
or
Update your soundcard driver. The driver that defaulted on my new computer was very old, and all I needed to do was download a new update and it works great. Get to use the new audio hardware options, improving FPS, and get great sound.
I'm betting audio hardware as the culprit, and you just aren't realizing it, because it didn't crash out when you made the change, and if there was a long enough period before you loaded the game again, the audio option you changed could slip your mind as a possible problem.
