Well, at first just like everyone else, I ran this game like arss.

Crashed, lowest graphics settings possible and the rest of the nightmare.

Thru all the recent pacthing or whatever they are doing I am now running the Game on Balanced. 1280x1024 Also I have a bunch of the individual sliders tweaked like Maxed out Draw Distance, Etc.

I am running this on a 800 Dollar Computer I built a few Years ago.

ATI Radeon 700
AMD 3200
Gig of Ram

Has anyone else gone back and try to beef up there Graphics recently?

Is it just me or is it running better for everyone?

I still crank stuff down in heavy population areas with a ton of fighting, but in a duo/trio situation,m or out harvesting, I crank thigns up and it runs great. So yteah, I am getting much better performance than I was before.

Honestly great work Sigil, and keep it coming.

I have noticed a LOT less jerkiness as of late. Chunking even seems faster than it was a few patches ago. I still get the occasional CTD, but I think that is because I have an 8800 and we all know VG hates 8800s...lol.

When I first got VG I was not impressed, but for some reason chose to stuck it out. I have seen a LOT of improvements, which shows me that the design team is truly working hard to fix the game. After dealing with vague and non existant answers from Blizzard for the last two years, just seeing them posting and fixing problems is more than enough to keep me going. :)

Same performance issues for me.

Still waiting for the miracle fix so my 'recommended' system can run the game at decent graphics level (average level).
rofl, whatever.

course it cant be your machine.

I do agree the game does not run well at "recommended spec" at all. I am running an AMD x-2 5000 with a 8800 GS OC and 2 gig of Corsair XMS for my system ram and still running the game at 1280 x 1024 Balanced to get acceptable performance. Don't get me wrong, the game is gorgeous even at Balanced IMO, but for a rig that is so much more than the Recommended I would expect more. In the end its the gameplay that matters to me though, and if the game looks decent enough for me to enjoy visually, then as long as the rest of the game is fun - its all good.

O-O
Im running on a AMD x2 4200 and ATI x1950 Pro, 2 gig ram, running at 1650x1200 and High Quality stuff turned to around 50% and get 20-25 in crafting areas in New Taragnor sometimes lags down to really low but /flush fixes it usually and 45+ outside... Oh yea also forgot to mention running Vista Premium 32bit

I'm one of the lucky ones, running a 8800gtx, have yet to ctd once.

I still lag bad in some places. Other times its smooth. PVP is still bad when pets or alot of buffs or bardsongs are involved.

I've always had pretty good luck with the game but that said, the first few weeks of the game I was getting 2-3 CTD per night (especially in ToD.. evil place). Now I have had 1 CTD in the last two weeks.

However, I have gotten a few black screens and a couple trade/group bugs. But overall, I'd say its improved.

Never had that much of a problem since release. During beta my rig could hardly play the game and it was with much anticipation I bought the game. Game does crash randomly but very rarely and it runs smooth in cities and everywhere else.

core 2 duo - e6600
2ghz DDR2
7800 gtx

not a bad machine but the game runs great

I CTD probably once or twice in a 4 - 5 hour session. I'm pushing my graphic options beyond what they should be though.

Overall performance has definitely gone better but with each of the last 3-4 patches my CTD frequency has gone up, whereas it almost never happened right after release :(

And no, I don't have no 8800.

Honestly you don;t need to upgrade to run WoW. I'm not bashing either , I love WoW as well. But that game is so smooth and runs fantastic even on machines UNDER the recomendation!

Vanguards a full time job man, no way you can play both. Wait til your done or need a break from WoW, Then get Vanguard.

Also by then the game will have the Polish your accustome to seeing in WoW/Blizzard Product.

Maybe the client has improved. However...

30-35 FPS outdoors while hunting and 10 FPS in town while socializing is not acceptable.

Not to mention, purple to red FPS in a full group dungeon crawl with setting on High Performance.

Just unacceptable. One of the main reasons I uninstalled this week.

I refuse to play a game that won't play when every other title out there performs wonderfully on my machine.

I'll check back in a few months hopefully.

but thats just you. its not everyone. some peeps have probs, some dont.

this i actually found to be a huge improvement.

i completely wiped the beta client and re-installed the live client from the digital download.

that gave me a 10-20 fps boost, and also allows me to constantly run on balanced(in groups and solo) which i was never able to do before. i used to always have it on high performance. defrag after every patch helped alot. and every few patches, deleting the cache folder for the game.

got rid of alot of bugs i.e. the appearance bug. and got alot more performance with the live version.

Good attitude (seriously, I'm not "having a go" :))

Some of the people around here seem to think the way it was in beta/early release is how it is now and will be forever more, which is just plain wrong.

Enjoy your break and see you on the flip side

rofl, yea. i couldnt move very well in beta either. it was kinda silly trying to do that last griffon event, and getting killed cause i had .2 fps.

finally did get one though, got a mile in the air, and had 60 fps, turned it up to highest quality, and took some nice screenies.. anywho its better now and i got the same machine(upgraded the mem, but still the same old dinosaur)

Its not only him!
Everyone i've talked with have very very very low fps in groups and especially PvP.

It has becomed a _little_ better, but it is still very very very very low fps in groups/PvP

ATI Radeon X1650 512MB

I run on highest settings at all times now.

I see no difference in performance when switching to a lower setting....even to highest performance, so I just keep it at high settings.

The FPS difference is literally 1 from high quality to highest performance when in a group so there is no reason to play on highest performance anymore. Maxed on Highest Quality I lose 2 fps....eh...can't tell a difference between that and high quality so..... :D

First of all, 30-35 FPS is unacceptable? Personally I think that's pretty good. 10 FPS in town, however, is pretty bad, but I don't see how you could possibly dip from 35 to 10. I run around 20-25 FPS in the wilderness and I drop down to around 15-20 in town. I'd imagine you would stay in the 20+ range in town if you're getting over 30 consistently out of town. Is it stuttering from hard drive loading, or is it just graphical lag?

As for your comments about dungeon crawls, I don't understand how that's possible either. I personally get a hell of a lot better FPS in dungeons than I do outside. I average around 35 with a full group, with graphics on Balanced but tweaked to add HDR, tone mapping, volumetric clouds, turned off simple terrain, and some other stuff. I think something's going on with your computer, because I know mine gets much better FPS inside than outside.

Anyway, good luck, and hope you return to Vanguard one day.

I run WAY better with my min req comp. MY wifes beefy 1800 dollar comp has went from great to horrible to playable but still freezes and or CTD about 1 every 2 hours(sometimes 4 hours). She actually got rid of her 8800gtx for a 7950 which was actually made a huge improvement in staying connected. She has tryed everything in her power and tryed all the advice from customer support to make sure her comp isn't the problem. FYI check out the SOI support site there are WAY to many people having problems to say it's the Players computers thats the problem.

I've heard that it's a driver issue with the 8800 series. I could be wrong though.

I still CTD , especially when I do a lot of travelling , after going from Khal to 3 rivers I crash when approaching the buildings there...thats 8-10 chunks.

Usually crash if I chunk 10 times or so when travelling...theres a memory leak still there somewhere..

But it's improving...used to be after 3 or 4 chunks at the start.

Once I stay in 1 chunk for the evening to XP or quest I don't crash at all.
