I want VG forums, not this silky venom BS, VG/SOE sponsored forums would create a much better community. I want realm forums, i want devs not affiliated with outside influences such as SV. I honestly do not understand what the hell was going through their minds when they decided to go this route.

Not sure why they decentralised the community, and don't really have an opinion on it.

What I do feel like commenting on is the number of "I wants" in your post. Not to mention the capitalised title. Single child?

I would like subscriber only boards. The none players are stinking up these boards.

How do you figure it wouldn't be different? Theres about 10 different sites like SV . That only spreads the community even more thin then they already are.

If you have a centralized ONE stop site and then maybe a dedicated class site, makes the community alot closer..

Face it, forums don't create a community except they are a key part of the game like in EVE-O. Look at the WoW forums, just a swine-pig, and every useful information is on fan sites. Only upside of official forums would be subscribers only, hopefully, but there is not so much trolling around here recently, so maybe we don't need.

Well since we're all talking about pipe dreams... I want a Porche, and free gas for life. Oh, I want a house too, with a white picket fence. I want my kids to behave themselves at all times and quit fighting over the same toy even tho they have 150 others in their toy box. I want a job that pays me to sit here and read your posts and laugh at you all day long (oh wait, I have that already...).

Look, don't you think the devs and other employees of Sigil have enough on their hands without having an "official" forum to run as well? You DO realize that official or not, it doesn't guarantee dev responses nor should it. In fact, I think dev's made a HUGE mistake by starting to post on message boards. They should have remained silent, reading but not responding. Because every word they write is written as if its the Holy f'ing Commandments.

If you think SV is bad, then why are you asking for an "official" forum? It would be 10 times worse.

100x worse. They were worse, just look back to when the OVF existed.

By dispersing the community a lot of the ... poo ... that went on got dispersed as well, and much of it got settled into ... tolerable ... levels once again. If there were still an OVF there would be 100x the amount of poo there as you see here.

Here (SV) has even settled down a lot in the past few months. Right near launch ... fooooo ... it was really bad.

It would only be worse if they slacked on moderation, which they really did on the OVF. They had like one person responsible for the entire thing. 1 person for thousands of posters is a pretty shitty ratio. It all comes down to being cheap. Set up forums and hire mods to do the job like a job, not as a hobby.

Well, make them member only forums, you own the game and a current subscription to the game you can post. Otherwise you can only view the forums.

I have nothing against SV, and the early VG forums were awesome. I just think if everything was consolidated, it would be easier for devs to find stuff.

But, my main concern, is there is NO community on servers. Even if it consists of a little bashing amongst players, its still a community. Never have a played a game that went this route.. especially not an mmorpg. I would like to be able to make a post to my servers rogues, ask questions, give answers.. then be able to get in game ... send tells, talk... try to get this infamous POCKET LINT RECIPE BOOK.

The only community that exists as it is is a Craft channel and people your lvl that you group with.. you NEVER interact with people higher or lower lvl... maybe if your lucky to be in the same area and hear a question you can help, otherwise they are SOL.

I put this in the GENERAL forum cause thats where it will be viewed!

Wish we could. :) Or at the very least be able to identify active subscribers from non-subscribers.

The problem with that statement is that everyone uses it. So, if it were a valid reason to not abide by the forum subcategorization, then there would be no reason to even have forum subcategories. That would be a mess.

But then some of your own mods wouldn't even be able to mod the forums. ;)

Hah, that's why the latter (of just identifying) is the preferred approach. ;)

Hmmm, I'm not aware of any mods that don't have an active account :)

I disagree. We get quite a large percentage of "poo" flung around these forums. Some of the worst offenders don't even subscribe to the game.

There should be an official forum where paying customers can post with handles linked to their game accounts. You'd still get negative posts for sure, but you wouldn't get the constant complaints and trolling from people who don't even play the game anymore.

I think an official forum would consolidate loads of information and be a great resource for both people looking for information and others wanting to constructively discuss the game and its issues.
