Retracting my post, pls ignore.
The horseshoes I mentioned were only like 10g higher, upon enquiring with my guild.
I want Vanguard to succeed as much as anyone else.

Interesting post where crafters are discussing why gold sites are selling plat for so low a price.
Two possible explanations,
-Very high supply of plat due to duping,
-Very low demand, due to ppl leaving.
If dupe, why arent Vanguard banning accounts and removing that plat from the economy? If low demand, how can so much plat be farmed in such a short time?
Post is here, interesting read,
http://www.vanguardcrafters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23317
Either way, the result to the VG economy is showing up in textbook form, through MMOinflation. (I saw a pair of horseshoes selling on the AH for 50g)
Im all for this MMO succeeding, so lets find out the reason why and resolve the problem.
Whats your view?

I'd agree, Sigil have scared a lot of potential buyers off by threats of bannings(a good thing!). Gold farmers, because of this, have a surplus of gold no-one is buying.

If they are duping, anyone know, without posting here, how they are doing it?
Im kinda inclined to believe dupe too, since VG has only been live near 3 months.

There is a working dupe atm. You should have seen khal docks on some servers. Hundreds of SHIPS (not sloops) can barely move around town(1 FPS). A GM came and removed all of them.

If youre talking about caravels thats because your boat can be spawned permanently in every chunk. So people drive up to the khal docks and teleport out leaving the boat still spawned in the world. And you can do that in every chunk of the game. There are alot of players and most of them want boats, so it's easy to see how there are so many boats.
Also gold is rising b/c they not only lowered the rate you take durability damage but they also lowered the cost to repair.
I like to spawn my boat and ram other ppls boats at the docks. And spawn it on top of others causing them to spin around wildly and knock people off the dock. I PRAY they don't change this stuff before I can get a galleon LOL

The price a 100 gold sells for in real life money is like a stock price for a company.
I was thinking of monitoring it for different games to judge game health.

I bet theres coin duping in every damn game you play. Youll never get rid of gold buyers/sellers. Most the sellers all live in one house or what not and cant speak english for the most part. VG economy will always be screwd because crafters feel they are owed for spending tedious hours to level there crafting. Which seems fair to me because it is completely tedious and unproductful making it no fun to do. So when you do do it, you want compensated for it. That's reasonable its just like real life. You have a job(Crafting). You do it NOT BECAUSE ITS FUN but because it puts food on your plate and shelter above your head. Ironic how mmo crybabies want there game to be more realistic and when it gets so close all you hear is whinning about this and that just like real life NO ONE IS EVER SATISFIED........EVER

If there is duping than ya I know how it can be done but wouldn't dare try it myself even just for research purposes.
It's actually very easy to dupe if you want too.
Especially with a new game on the market that more than likely doesn't have all the built in necessities to keep it from happening and even then there is always another way to do it.
However you can be caught even easier than what it takes to do it. Gaureenteed ban if you do it as it's very track-able and obvious.

I registered to let you know. No fake here. Sigil knows about it, but are having a hard time to nail it down.
Its a shame, and with the small demand, its no way the inflation wont take off.
Prepare for alot higher prices in the near future."

This assumes gold sellers are being treated equally across different games.
I've purchased 'gold' before in EQ and Eve Online.
Won't touch the services in VG.
They are far too aggressive about banning people to risk my toon doing so.
I would guess other players are in a similar situation.

Get real.
First thing gold farmers do is send hundreds of gold to random people to get them banned. Innocent people make a fuss.

I actually got about 75s from a gold seller yesterday. It was a gold advertisement in my mailbox and it had 75s attached to it. I returned it.
But honestly if I got a mail that said "successful broker sale" and had like 10g attached to it, I would probably not bother reading the mail and accept it assuming something on the auction sold. I never read the auction emails I just collect my money and keep it moving.

Should've sent it to me, I accidentaly sent 75 silver to a stranger (misspelled my alt's name). Must've been my 75 silver you somehow got there...

I don't think a downturn in the player popluation can account for 100p selling for $200. The prices are so low because they can dupe it faster than they can sell it.
If someone walked up to you and handed you titles to 20 pieces of real estate, would you turn around and sell it at 10% of its value? No, that's because the item in question still has a real value to it.
But what if you could snap your fingers and simply create 200 more of that same thing? Then its value would really drop.
And that is what is happening. Its a dupe.

I agree, there is a dupe. It just needs fixed.
Read the quote I took form VanguardCrafters, It pretty much says it all.
I have no reason to not believe it.
I believe the gold sellers have gone from grinding to duping and just started going at war with each other's prices.
With a dupe the work load for farmers disappears, and so do their pay checks that were coming out of the company, cheap now is what we have.

check on any hack forums, the dupe bug has been out for about a month now. If youw wondering why economy is so low, this is the reason it simply kills it. With BOE in effect, everything economy wise will go to sludge, same thing happened in eq2 check the old forums it devistated it. Dont believe it? check it out, and check on the price of gold most places are giving it away. BOE in in fact, in place because of this. Its VGs only way to slow things down but what they simply overlook is in the long run it in fact promotes people to buy more gold (thus EQ2 gain). So dupe bug (VG/sigils fault) has *NOTHING* to do with us, the loyal commmunity, but we are in fact getting nerfed for it. Look up the trends in prior games, its a fact. BOE will not fix crafters, people will go for adv gear now because you buy somthing for 10g then sell for 5 copper, that doesnt fix a broke economy it makes it worthless.OW and you gamplay time is now alot slower if you dont wanna wear all green gear. So sad, VG has so much potential WTF are they doing with it? I know the crafting nerf is a different topic, but the two are related i really feel this as a feble way to fix SIGILS bug. 8(
This has to be one of the biggest concerns right now. I mean 100 platina for 190 USD just screams "dupe" in my mind. If it's true, which it certainly seems to be, this has to be addressed or it could threaten the entire game in my opinion.

There is an Adventuring dupe that I had. Doubled most everything I had on, in my bags, quest items, with exception of a few certain things.
I was shocked and /petitioned it because it was an easy dupe to do.
...
I got tired of hours waiting for a response, closed the ticket and logged off.
Oh well, I quit the game anyhow...maybe the secret will die with me, who knows:confused:

At some point, when all the money's been made that can be made, we'll have a little expose on exactly how dysfunctional the coding was in this game. I suspect we're very close to the gold being free, followed by a tell-all, complete with screenshots. And some very interesting information regarding an inside job that Sigil will be totally embarrassed about. If you can't trust your server programmer, who can you trust? So there's a little teaser to wrap your heads around.
Sounds like inside information, links?

Intentionally crashing a zone or chunk or server to force a rollback to a few minutes prior is method number 1 to duping.
Give someone some gold/items.. they log out, force the quick rollback to just before the trade.. person logs back in and boom you have now duped.

Keep in mind
The trick isn't duping money. It's duping items, and then selling them on the market FOR money. It creates "clean" money, instead of trackable dirty money. It's also about duping items for the various repeatable exp quests. You can be lvl 50 in a day. Just kill a mob or two for the last ding so the screenshot shows you adventuring, and your good. Even spread it out over a week or so to make it look legit. Afterwards simply proceed to Ebay or the aftermarket venue of your choice.
All of this is has been going on since launch, and is still going on. Not to mention the various speedhacks and other issues. It's quite frustrating to the honest player.

There was a dupe like this in UO at one point. It involved portal/recalling across "zonelines" and forcibly closing your client. Anyone who played back in those days remember that over the span of a few days, large keeps and castles sprouted up all over the place.
Honestly though, does incompetence like this surprise anyone? They have people from the art department working on bug fixes for crying out loud, which is ironic considering all the bugs with armor graphics not showing :)

I think it`s a bit different, it`s trash-drop dupe, and that creates money out of thin air, thus making said money "non-legit" ( :D )

True but the dupe item for money is still track-able and any game on the market now will throw up a red flag if this appears to be going on. This is the first thing that is tracked, sales of what and how much over how much time.
You would be safer bringing in money out of thin air than the item dupe. But even then money can have it's own marker for each piece, at least thats what some of the Japan games have done.

All kinds of interesting rumours floatin around, such as the NT chunk specifically crashed and being used to dupe....now that I think about it, that chunk was going down regularily while doing the mount quest. Things that make you go hmmm...
