I posted this in the "Cop Meteor" thread in the off topic area of the OF, but I think it got buried there quickly. I thought some of you might like to check it out... ball lightning in your microwave folks!

The topic of ball lightning made me look this up. Check this out.

This is why physics rocks. I know many of you will probably try to do this. Hell, I'm thinking about it myself. Just be careful.

Check out the section on Electrokinetic lifters too. A buddy of mine at school was working on this as a senior project. He wanted to put the whole thing in a bell jar to evacuate the atmosphere to eliminate the flow of air as a cause for lift. They're saying all kinds of spooky stuff about this phenomen (like it's proof that electromagnetism and gravitation are linked), but there are lots of ways to pick things up off the ground that have nothing to do with negating the gavitational field of the earth (think of helicopters). Anyway, my friend never got it to work in a bell jar, but he did get it to work. A blue plasma forms around the copper wire that you can't see in the videos here. It's pretty cool.
