At lower levels (mid 30s and below) I've seen rangers with extremely effective stealth - more effective (from a sorc's point of view based on perception in game of hidden players) then from much higher level rogues.
Now, some rangers, are not only completely invisible literally in front of me (maxed hide/sneak according to some I've asked) that they can literally open with crit shot throw out a few other high damage bow hits - kill the player and head off all in a handful of seconds - before you say well maybe a cloth caster - but I've seen Dreadknights stopped dead from 100% health, Necros hit the dirt long before the pet gets to them, etc., and so forth.
Now I'm curious, since rangers can use night eye to see invis, potentially can kill a person of similar level through expending one energy bar on them at max range - wouldn't this mean that the ranger is potentially an awesome pvp class?
I suppose my main question is - Does this sniper ability of the ranger at low to mid levels disappear? Does their ranged dps drop to such an extent that they say at level 50 will not be dropping a DK in secs?
Just learning the game - ty in advance.

They will still be able to do this to clothies on mid/high levels. Additionally, DKs, Necros, Druids and Rogues gain the ability to 1-shot you as well.

The irony for me is - at one time being a 38 sorc and seeing Xemus (50 rogue of triton - Varking) all over the place while he was "stealthed" in Southwatch - yet when it came to a 50 ranger that was in Triton I couldn't see him at all.
What I'm wondering, is, in some mmorpgs it takes the coding of the particular mmo 3-4 secs for a stealthed type character to be detected and then more likely if they are (a) standing still for those 3-4 secs (b) in the vision of a class who has some form of detection... the key was to keep a count to y ourself - keep moving yes but if you paused not to do so for more than 2 counts of Mississippi - 2 real time secs...then move again etc.
In VG I'm wondering if it's the reverse - move and be afflicted by lag and already broken stealth coding bites you in the butt - or have the luxury of ranged dps from a static (not moving) stance.
However, that being said, I have heard some rogues that I've asked state that rangers have been able to be apparantly less detectable by same and or lower level classes then them - and in both cases both classes have sneak and maxed for level...
I see a massive lack of info in VG - moreso than any mmorpg I've ever played. I have a sad feeling that because we have such low populations, folks are already seeing servers like Varking as a niche server in a niche game - and they aren't going to share 5 seconds of info with a board such as this so that they can enjoy whatever (a) exploits (b) "tricks of tha trade in the game...or just not care period because they are holding out for X new mmorpg.
I hope I'm wrong.
