Just my luck. I needed a new keyboard so it was a toss up between the Logitech G15 or the Saitek Eclipse. I really liked the funtionality of the Logitech, but I preferred the look of the Eclipse. So I ordered one yesterday.

Just browsing the net and I come across this! (http://razerblueprints.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=46&Itemid=1)

Available in December. Don't know if it's any good, but it does look nice, and not as bulky as the Logitech. It will be interesting to see a head to head review. I might try and return the Saitek and hold out for the Tarantula. My god, that's a silly name for a keyboard.. :p

Looks like it has thumbsticks like a console controller. Weird.

I really like the Saitek. Although the backlighting is somewhat pointless, it is very simple and comfortable. I hate keyboards with all the big goofy looking multimedia keys that I'll never use. I seriously love the feel of the keys, and once you get used to the lightness of it, it's very quiet and I think faster. I say get used to the lightness of the keys because I'm used to using $20 microsoft keyboards that you really have to bang on. This thing just flows.

Yeah, fair point on the media shortcut buttons. The only one I really use (and I don't use it much) is the My Docs shortcut key.

It was due to be delivered today, 5.50pm now so maybe tomorrow. Going from a MS kb and mouse to the Saitek and a Copperhead, so I'll let you know what I think -- though I daresay I'll be over the moon!

Ok, I've had the Saitek for about an hour now.

This keyboard is the business. Seriously. Ok, it's just a keyboard and the stuff you can do with it besides type are extremely limited. But, it is a joy to use. It's build feels suitably solid, has thick rubber feet and most important of all, the keys feel solid and responsive. I love the cable too -- looks like a thin rope.

Right now I'm just looking for an excuse to use it. I have an open wordpad doc on my desktop and a copy of LOTR next to my monitor.

I may be some time..
