Alright, whats everyone's favorite low level "dungeons" or dungeon-like zones from your favorite MMOG and why?
EQ1 -
Crushbone - My first great orc encounters took place here. I first learned the meaning of the word "TRAIN" as it pertained to MMOG's. I remember many a great battle on the back bridge of Crushbone castle, squaring off toe-to-toe with Legionaires and then having someone train through there with a pack of slavers on their butt.. or hearing the dreaded shout of someone who had just aggroed D'Vinn and because of that, everyone in the zone was racing pell-mell to reach it before D'Vinn and his buddies did... zoning in right after one of those D'Vinn slaughterfests was pretty funny too (nothing but corpse littering the zone in)
Unrest - I loved the build up. Even the trek getting there was fraught with danger. You started out in the yard killing trash and then you worked your way up to the sides of the estate pulling from the house or trying to pick off stragglers from the constant trains as they reset... then you actually built up enough courage to venture into the 1st floor of the house, then the upper levels all the while nervously looking over your shoulder for the ever-present threat of trains. And don't forget the Ghost and his prized boots!
Mistmoore - Another good progressive type "dungeon" like zone. God-awful-zone-clearing trains :) The much coveted MM Shield dropped by the Glyphed Ghoul. Good, tough fights for decent loots. You could really get lost in this zone/castle for days and not run out of things to go after.
and last but certainly not least...
Sol A - A great dungeon that many people over looked. Had awesome loots (when the game was young)like the +9 Wisdom Shield dropped by the named clockwork, or the cloak dropped by "Gabby (?)" in the gnome castle. It was a great dungeon to work on levels 20-30.
Anyways, those are some of the ones that come to the top of my head at the moment even though there were plenty more such as BB and others...

I absolutely loved so many, if not all of the dungeons in EQ, focusing mainly on pre-Kunark or Kunark though. If I had to pick my favorites they'd be (I keep trying to narrow this list down and just can't):
Befallen
Najena
SolB
The old CT (and the new CT)
Sebilis
The Hole
Howling Stones
Chardok
Kedge Keep
edit: Had to add Qeynos Sewers

Yeah! I had forgotten about the Howling Stones! Great zone! Chardok was great too as well as Seb and would've made my "more challenging" list that was coming up next... been so damn long for me that I've forgotten alot of the names if not the content.

No one said Blackburrow?
The encounters may not have been as good as other zones, but the geography was fantastic. My favorite.

since DAoC was my main mmog..cant really name a dungeon from there that was my favorite since they were all cookie cut in each realm, same templates.
but in WoW i enjoyed Scarlet Monastery the most, lots of variety, loved the look and feel of it.

hehe Skar!
Lugian Citadels were good back in 2000, but after all the bots started, and everyone was running around with lvl 126 buffs, it got silly.
Olthoi nests and Virindi havens were always my favorite spots.
Then since I also played WoW, I'm gonna have to say...Scarlet Monastery and Upper Blackrock Spire.

Ok, since we're throwing in all sorts of dungeons into the mix (and not just low-level ones)... I'd have to say that TOFS (Tower of Frozen Shadows) was probably my FAVORITE dungeon.
Which, when I started thinking about why it was my favorite, I came to the conclusion that it just wasn't the layout of the dungeon or the cool mobs and treasure, but it was mainly the feeling of accomplishment and carmaraderie that I and my guild got when we decided to tackle TOFS and see it thru all the way to the end.
We were a mid-level guild on the Tribunal server, not uber by any means, and when Velious came out we decided to check out some new content and that tower...... well, it just asked for it. As the "raid" leader, it was a challenge tackling new content without the benefit of any information and it was a fun few days exploring that place from top to bottom. :p

In the original release, nothing compared to Guk. Man did I love that place. I also really enjoyed Cazic.
I really liked Howling Stones, and the Hole too. Come to think of it... pretty much any of the Kunark Dungeons kicked butt (aside from maybe Nurga/Droga).
Later on, one of the really under-appreciated zones was Veksar. Especially if you were in there with a level-appropriate group. I just wish it had been a bit bigger.

With you there. Almost uniformly Kunark dungeons were great, except for Nurga and Droga. I really find mines to be the most uninspiring type of dungeon, and without stuff to 'wow' you graphically, it just tends to look bland. The odd cart and track, the odd mound of dirt. Wow, a shovel.. :p
Crypts, castles, keeps, tombs, mansions, ice caves, lost cities even, are usually more inspiring.

I loved Unrest in EQ. It was such pandamoniom! I was terrified everytime I played in there. That werebat had a thing for me. He'd go out of his way to find me I swear!
What was that zone in the Overthere down in that crevice. The one where the undead were right at the zone in sometimes. I liked that one. Sebilis was also a favorite. There were so many different places to go in there and all of them damp and creepy! I think a big part of why I liked those places is because at the time those mobs were truely scary. My character had good armor for what was available but was still very squishable so if I got aggro I was dead quick. The shiver factor was way up there. /purr

"Down in that crevice in the Overthere"...
Did ya have to fight a bunch of half-human-scorpion thingies to get to it? I forget the name of that place too... I almost want to say Howling Stones, but I'm not 100% sure. If it is the Howling Stones though, then ya.. it was a great one! Come to think of it, Howling Stones DID have some skelly Iksars and or golems right as you zoned in.. you had to stand rock steady where you zoned in at and wait for your group to finish zoning in or you would agro one or all of the skellies or Golems.

That was Howling Stones or Charisis, depending on what lore was referencing it, or what player you talked to. I loved that place.

I'd have to say Howling Stones and Sebelis for higher level zones, but for low level experience and adventure, I really enjoyed the Warrens.

Charasis was *definitely* a favorite of ours. Started because we needed it for several quests of my husbands, then we just couldn't stop ourselves. "Beating" it just felt so satisfying.
The guardians (he called my ranger a paper tank, so I had to knock him out, hehehe):

to be honest, *anything* kunark rocked.
Outside of Kunark...Crystal Caverns was a big favorite. Solusek C had some good times. Runnyeye.

Because I played a wizard in EQ, groups could be hard to come by outside of the guild. If you weren't a warrior (the only viable tank), a cleric (the only viable healer...well, if you wanted a rezzer anyway), or an enchanter (the only viable crowd-controller), you were just one of the dozen other "extra DPS classes." Heck, if you weren't a rogue, monk, beastlord, ranger, necromancer, wizard, mage, or druid (i.e. shadow knights and paladins), you weren't even sought after for extra DPS. Anyhow, even though wizard manaburn got a serious nerf (so that 5-6 wizards could no longer take down a Kunark dragon), we found other ways to group with other wizards when we couldn't get groups.
The best were PBAoE groups. Grab 2 enchanters, 2-3 wizards, and a paladin. Head to a good AoEing area (Chardok was great). Have the paladin run around and aggro 25-30 lvl 50-60 mobs and train them back to the group. Why a pally? Because he had the AC to not die instantly from aggro'ing that many mobs and between fights he could heal himself. When mobs start arriving, the enchanters jump into the middle of the fray and begin chain casting their PBAoE stun, stunning everything (no limit to number of mobs) in their immediate vicinity. As soon as all the mobs have arrived and are being chain stunned, the wizards jump into the middle of the fray and begin casting PBAoE nukes to damage every mob (no limit to number of mobs) in their immediate vincity. 10-15 seconds later, 30 dead mobs are lying around and a huge amount of experience gained. Serious mana may have been burned, but for that amount of xp, it was more than worth the downtime. Wash, rinse, repeat. So screw warriors and clerics, we didn't need them! :p
If you wanted a real risky fight, try solo-ing in the planes of power. In the plane of disease, I quad-kited flies at lvl 60ish. By lvl 65, I was quad-kiting in the plane of fire. Dangerous stuff. Great xp. Sucky downtime. And it got lonely solo-ing. Alas, that was the lonely life of a wizard (outside of raiding), much of the time.
I had a bit of a 'love-hate' with the Lugian Citadel.
Olthoi nests were amazing.
Some of the forts.
BSD was exciting.

I liked the outdoors a lot too though. :)
Olthoi nests were very exciting. I played AC on and off for 3 years. During that time, those acid-ridden underground tunnels never got boring. I actually went back semi-recently (about a year ago), and that Olthoi dungeon near Arwic got updated! The small-ish one that has an Olthoi Noble at the bottom. It now links, via a portal, to a bigger dungeon. To my surprise, that new dungeon linked to an even bigger one! I was pretty impressed. :D
As for Everquest, hmm, I might actually have more than one. To be quite honest, I enjoyed exploring pretty much every dungeon. I've got particularly fond memories of Dalnir though. Primarily because my first main character (that I leveled past 20) was an Iksar Monk. I faintly recall going there with a few people my level. We were trying to get some Fighting Batons. Long story short, people died and I got lost. I fell down some hole and had to Feign Death (hooray for Safe Fall). Later that night, a high-level Necromancer friend of mine came to rescue me. :D Good times.

OH I forgot kedge! I liked that place, it was never crowded but those little square tunnels always made me feel somewhat claustrophobic and I got turned around easily in there. :o It was still cool though.
I liked the hole too once I figured out how to get in through that little crevice.
good time /sigh

so many.
Kael- mid-lvl raids for armor drops, factioning. Later on the AoW and such.
Guk- nuff said, many memories of helping ppl go after the SMR, FBSS, ahh and the good exp even in hell lvl.
ToV- Many a raid there. Used to be a challange befor group buffs. As a chanter i remember being the only one who would make a "speed list" and keep all tanks speeded throughout the raid. Fun times.
Hate and Fear- Loved those raids, so many specially going for chanter epic parts and such.
Chardok- well set up and fun to do.
Velks Lab- after the expansion, was the place to exp till lvl 60. And i loved the fact that it wasen't all flat, you went UP to get to Named ledge, tents, pit and such. Seeing ppl sliding and falling, ahh the fun.
So many good dungeons, the one off EJ, forgot name, there was accually 2 of them in there, Seb and the other one for Druid epic.
I'm not sure how Vanguard will pull that off having not "zones" but hope to see areas like all those of our favorite "dungeons".
