I just thought I say hello and introduce myself. My real name is Tim I am from chicago, and have been gaming since Space Invaders. I started playing EQ back in '99 and loved it. I played SWG and EQ2 and some others, always a little disappointed in what has been done.
It looks like much of the wisdom that has been learned, tried and true about MMORPG's will be invested into Vanguard. I am starting to get real excited as too what this Vaguard community and game can become.
And to thr creators of Silky Venom, congrats, the site looks great. I look forward to hanging around here.

Hiya Oakenfall! Glad you like the site. I agree with your thoughts on why Vanguard gives us cause to hope - there have been a lot of different things tried in MMOs, and Vanguard is the first time (at least that I can think of) where you have a group of developers with almost a decade of experience in the genre who have looked at what everybody else has tried and are working with that broad base of knowledge. Anyway, again, welcome! :)

Well all the devs from all the companies look at each other's products, but the Vanguard devs seem to be making better desisions ;)

Greetings Oakenfell, welcome to Silky Venom. I hope we can provide all that you want in a fansite, but if you have any suggestions then feel free to post them. :)

I know what you mean. I played WoW with a bunch of people I know in real life. The game was alright, but I would prefer to play Vanguard away from them and the WoW community. I like the Vanguard community, and I don't want it spoilt. :)

i must admit there is not enough cheese in MMORPG's. Actually I would like to see a dungeon made out of borrowed cheese. As a matter of fact I saw a rare cheese spawn in my refrigerator just the other day. :)
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone And to the adminstrators thanks for the forum spell checker.
Currently, I am changing careers from airline worker to Network System Administration. I graduate from DeVry University in June. I have a linux machine at home waiting to do something just for fun. When I get the time I want to create (with a lot of help) a fan site. (combine work with what I love) Of course timing is everything so I don't believe I could possibly get a site up for Vanguard, but you never know.
I noticed you guys are using v bulletin. I down loaded phpBB and planned to screw around with that, when I get time.
So my question is... What combination of linux i386 software do you recommend for ease of administation?
I look forward to Vanguard and making new friends hear at Silky Venom.
