View Full Version : Classes in high demand?
Hello all, I'm looking at restarting after quiting the game about 2 months after release. I heard all the servers had been merged so population is a lot higher, so, are there any classes are in relative high demand for grouping?... ie, are healers hard to come by? or tanks?... (I prefer to either heal or melee, i dont like casters) I'm asking because I play these games to group, and I don't want to be sitting in LFG land for more than 30minutes... also, is there a preferred class for tanking or healing?... i'm not looking for "suchandsuch is a sucky class"... i'm only looking for overall generalization of who gets a group first...

I stopped a couple months ago but it was after the server merges so I dont think much has changed. You wont have much luck finding a group for the first dozen levels at least, low populations and easy to solo for the most part. After that it wont matter. There are no classes in demand more than any other. Tanks and Healers are both good but you can do most of the content with groups that lack either. Just finding a group is a major accomplishment so it was rare to see anyone picky about who was in their group.

Have to disagree a bit.
Atleast on Halgar it seems there's some favourite classes that groups will look for. My Impression is that:
- Bards -> for their nice grouputility (dps-boost, CC)
- Clerics -> for best Buffs and good healing
- BloodMages -> for infinite and superior healing (in right gear)
and
- DKs / any Tank -> for main- or Offtanking when CC lacks
are sought for most in grouping.

Well, to get parties without having joined a guild, you have to use the LFG tool and talk to people in your level range and in the area (on higher levels, the later might not be as important anymore). Alternatively one can try a shout in the desired area, or a /who there.
In the endgame, the demand for tank : healer : dps classes is about 1 : 1 : 1. Meaning two tanks, two healers and two dps classes is the standard configuration. The second tank stays in offensive unless multiple opponents attack. This is especially crucial in the important Rhaz Inkur dungeon where CC is completely impossible.
If I might give you some tips, good classes are:
- Paladin, for being the purest support tank and being able to provide some emergency healing
- Dread Knight, for being able to heal himself without the possibility of disruption; especially the mass drain health on higher levels
- Ranger, for being the best bow user as well as a good melee dps as well as being a lesser toolbox
- Bard, for being the perfect toolbox, including reliable invisibility and very high runspeed; also the perfect harvester
- Cleric, for being the defensive healer with good melee buffs and a couple interesting affinities; most popular is Peace with Invis, very fast Root, and extensive Aggro control
- Shaman, coming in 3 variants, each with specific advantages. The Wolf variant, for example, is the only healer class with Stealth, important again in Rhaz Inkur
- Blood Mage, for being full featured healer, toolbox with raid healing tricks, but also downright insane damage output for a healer class if not needing to heal
- Necromancer, for being the only class with fake death that is worth it, being able to tank adds with his summon etc, and besides being the only mage class that can solo well even on highlevel, where mobs can oneshot mages.

I'm assuming you are saying that Stealth and Invis are different? 'Cause BMG's can invis.

Every mob in Rhaz Inkur can see through Invis, as can most of the Undead throughout the whole game (the later can be fooled by Invis vs Undead, though).
So yes, Stealth can work where Invis doesnt.
OTOH if you want to avoid a mob thats much higher than yourself, Invis is your only bet.
