So been rocking out on EQ2 the last few months and decided to see how VG is going. Holyshiza they're destroying this game. Not even sure they realize it from what I've read. Too bad, VG had rocking graphics, rocking class design, just poor content and implementation.

What kind of things do you mean by "destroying the game"? I know what I've seen, but I'm pretty focused on intangible things that ruined my immersion. It would be interesting to hear from a fresh opinion.

I've never understood the attraction of EQ2 over VG :P

Heya Brikk! Well, in some ways play in VG is a lot better than when you left. There is more content and the push to make things "easier" seems to have slowed.
However, the LG thing sucks and definitely highlights SOE's lack of integrity and vision about their games.

Look at the forum name it says 'sold' so assuming really that that means he/she sold his/her toon.
Anyone else notice, all the characters look the same on LG?

Was being a smart ass due to the new RMT system in VG.
(game compare using EQ2 as an example)
VG has/had a ton of incomplete areas. You would clear down to the bottom of a dungeon to find absolutely nothing. EQ2 areas tend to have a certain flow to them. I've done a ton of mentoring only to go and see area's I out leveled.
VG has/had a ton of bugs. Quest bugs, graphic bugs, crafting bugs, bugged mobs, bugged ships, shrimp bugs... I have found 1 bugged quest in EQ2 and the GM came and fixed it in about 5 mins. Was very surprised.
The RMT thing really doesn't bother me, however I think you should have a certain set of servers to allow for that. EQ2 has the same thing, just on certain server so it doesn't phase me.
Diplomacy.... um, that was a bit interesting, I got to the point though that I could play the same cards in the same order and win on the same mob over and over. So I set up a G15 macro and would let that run an entire night. 9 out of 10 times it worked like a champ. Anyhow it had zero purpose in the game though and wasn't even complete for the first few years. No clue if it is now but.
So MMO wise going to play EQ2 for PvE and WAR for PvP until the next best MMO comes out and then I'll go play that. So I guess some short answers are SOE isn't doing enough to make VG appealing and EQ2 is more appealing because it's more complete and I never run out of crap to do.

EQ2 has a horrible combat system though. At least leveling up. Its nothing but spamming random (and I mean random, it dosent matter) powers as fast as you can and just tank the mob while doing it.
oh, and this was as a coercer (enchanter, squishy of the squishy. Felt more like a tank though, well a tank with dozens of random buttons to press)
Oh, and the eq2 human/elf models look like dog poop

Well, aside from all of those civic buffs you can also trigger, it has "zero" purpose, but yeh ;)

Hi Brikk! I back in VG after a long abcence - still the same old mix of great/okay/and not so great. Sounds like you're having fun in EQ2 - I could never get into it. I've been playing EQMac (old school EQ - EQMac was never updated past 2002) and having fun with that.
Take it easy!

This post reminds me of another reason i am not sad to say goodbye to VG
When ever the merits of another game is mentioned numptys like Vanguard2112 spout the same bollox with hallo kitty and whack a mole or the graphics are shit. as if VG was is any differant.
VG has one of the most childest sections of its comunity that i have ever seen.

I wrote a Darkfall review to support the recent Eurogamer review in which Darkfall Online scored 2 out of 10.
You guys are playing a shit game. It looks like freaking pong and the sound from my pop-rocks back in 1987 was better than Darkfall.
I'm sorry that you feel so ravaged by the euro review. Maybe if you got in game and did more PVP rather than websurfing like the craigslist killer you'd be having a better day.
Pulitzer Prize, here I come!

I'm quite enjoying Darkfall, yes it looks and sounds a little "retro" but I like the nostalgic feel of it. Early days though.
