i know this may be a difficult question to ask but i was wondering if there were any details about vanguard and voice chat. are they going to host there own servers for this? or will it be supported through third party software such as ventrillo or teamspeak.

I thought there wasn't going to be voice chat in the game engine. I hope there isn't, VC always annoys the hell outta me except in FPS and flight sims.

Check out this bit of the FAQ: Voice Chat (http://www.silkyvenom.com/pages/faq.php?faqid=651&expand=666#faq666). :)

Apparently because Sigil used Microsoft's development tools (I can't seem to remember the name of them) they have the same capabilities as Xbox Live would which means voice support etc.

I've never been a big fan of voice chat.. My EQ guildies could tell ya that... I'd sit there listening in, even with my Mic, but I wouldn't talk as it didnt feel right, and if I did... good luck shuttin me up :D

I'll make do if it is implemented, though I recall seeing a post recently saying that Voicechat will not be implemented and they will assume that if people want to use voice chat they will use a third party program.

Last I heard as well.

For the hardcore raiding guild, voice chat is a blessing. It allows for much faster communication that is easier to multitask with complicated gameplay than typing.

Voice chat becomes a nuisance when it's filled with useless banter. However, if everyone in a raid is listening in on a channel, and only the few raid leaders are speaking, voice chat is great. What I mean, voice chat is great when everyone is listening and only a few people are speaking.

I don't mind if Vangaurd won't have in-game voice chat, because I'll just continue to use a third-party program like Teamspeak or Ventrilo. Also, I'll probably only join a guild that requires the use of voice chat because when used properly, it enhances guild performance and game play incredibly. Not to mention that strict attendance policies, DKP systems, and required voice chat are all indicators of how "hardcore" a guild is, and I want to be in one of the most "hardcore" guilds in Vanguard :D .

I definately agree. I don't mind talking when things need to be said, but when too many voices are going you have problems. My EQ guild used it for EQ. My RL friends used it for FFXI/WoW/EQ and it allows faster communication for sure. Though I found myself talking far too seldom for my guild, and way too much for my RL friends. :D
