Hey I'm Kura Kusa co-leader of Kusa.... We are all X EQ players who have to say the least been around the block, and been disappointed at every turn. We were very active in the pre-EQ2 community, and had about 70 strong members out of over 200 applicants ready for release. The guild was going strong we were the first guild on Permafrost the second most populated server at the time.

Things were working out extremely well, and we were having a good time. We were extremely disappointed in EQ2 when raiding first started, so for members who didn’t kill themselves about 70% of the guild left including myself to play WoW.

We played WoW and even though it was fun it didn’t have the challenge and depth we were looking for but we hashed it out to 60 due to lack of options. Now we have mostly all quit WoW and are preparing for Vanguard.

Most of us have been pretty excited about Vanguard for the past 2 years since it was released that Brad and the EQ Dev team were making it. So here we are looking for more Vanguard peoples lol =)

Guild Name - Kusa
Faction - NA
Server - (Role-playing probably, we will have to see options, we want a mature community, not like the hundreds of 15 year old kids we played WoW with lol)
PvP alignment - Lawful good
Name meaning - "Kusa" is ancient Japanese for a ninja or a group of ninja that were feared but respected. It is singular and plural, translations are "honorable warrior" or "honorable warriors".
Guild Leaders - Kura & Ariaan
Web Page - www.kusa.us
Forums - http://www.kusa.us/forums.aspx
Contact - E-mail me at mjgallin@aol.com, AIM at kusa20 or PM me on our forums =)

More in depth information such as our charter, constitution and leadership structure will be up soon.

Leadership Team
1. KL (Kusa Leadership) - Leaders
2. Leadership Council - all co-leaders and Lead Officers.
3. Family Council - officers that head of families/fellowships.
4. Errant Council - Errant Council Leader and Elders
5. Raiding Council - Raid Leaders, Raid Planners.
6. Financial Council - Banker, accountant, web master.
7. Representative Council - Class Representatives.
8. Artisan Council - Artisan class rep officers
9. War Council - Leadership body during times of war.

These councils will begin to be formed at our first guild meeting scheduled 30 days after the games released. At that meeting we will also be promoting members into leadership that have earned it, and leadership will be demoted if they haven't lived up to expectations by the rest of the leadership team.

No guild position is final until post release, so if you get accepted, its really a trial membership and its the same with officers. We aren't doing this because we are having extremely strict rules on all members and officers. We are doing things this way because you cannot tell by an application or from forum activity people who have good enough character to live up to our name. Number 1 focus will always be character of members.

Leaders of Kusa -
The leaders of Kusa are Ariaan Kusa and I, Kura Kusa. We will be working mainly just on the organizational aspect of everything and keeping order. We will also be guild relations and be the players that deal with other guilds.

Leadership Council
This is where all the big decisions are made and finalized, such as going to war and so forth. The Leadership Council is made up of all leaders and all Officers, we will work together and oversee all other councils.

Representative Council -
As our guild grows we need to strengthen our structure to be able to support a larger guild without ties being broken and things turning into chaos. The representative council will have a assigned representatives for each class to lead members of the guild within that perspective class. Class Reps will keep informed on gear needs and strengths of the members of their class in order make sure member gear needs are not being ignored. Class reps will also be training members of their class on what is required of them in raid situations, so when we have raids we know 100% of all members that attend have all the knowledge they need to help us execute that raid correctly...

Family Council - (If Vanguard can support this structure, EQ2 and WoW would not)
We are putting focus into creating solid families within the guild for organization for familiarity and relationship purposes. Strong surname (last name) sharing groups of 6 players that will be powerful pvp and raid groups. Having this system set up really helps us as we reach more members in keeping everyone tightly knit and organized. Each family will act as a type of mini-guilds, there will be at least one officer in each fellowship that reports directly to leadership and part of the "Family Council" these will be called Family Leaders. The Family Leaders will make up the family council and will report directly to the different divisions of leadership on certain things. So say your Fellowship wants to schedule an Event or raid, your Fellowship leaders will work with the Raid Council to get that scheduled. If your family cant afford their guild dues they your family leader will work with the financial council. We aren’t just making a guild we are making a society...

The nice thing about having a large guild with individual families is that our "raid council" will work with family leaders on scheduling raids, and depending on your individual fellowship needs you choose which raid to be a part of. So say your family is a bit lacking in your family tank, and one of the raids has a lot of uber drops that will improve your tanks ac/hp you will want to do that raid.

Errant Council - Loner players not part of families -
We also realize that not everyone wants to be linked at the hip with 5 other players so we have came up with a structure for players that are not part of families.

The Errant Council is completely made up of players that are not part of any families. There will be a leader for these players and this part of the guild will function kind of like a standard guild within our guild. The RCL (Errant Council Leader) is be directly responsible for the actions of his members, him and his officers will do recruiting for members unless they join our guild into a family or join their already existing family. Players from the rogue council will be loners until they find their own family. Of course some members will decide to play as loners and this is completely their option =) They will still be able to come on raids and form their own raids. When this pocket of the guild gets to be a large size we will make sure that its broken up into groups of 5 and assign a Officer for each group that is called an Elder. At that point the RCL will be directly in charge over all the Elders and that will be his leadership team.

Raiding Council -
The Raiding Council will be made up of Raid Planners, Raid Leaders and DKP Trackers, Each position has a lot of responsibility. Raid Planners have to work with Family Leaders and Elders and schedule them up with other families that desire the same raiding locations. That way if your Family wants to Raid say Bilbo’s hut, your Family Leader will talk to Raid Planners and the Raid Planners will match them up with other families that want to raid that area or just want to raid. They are required to keep up to date with all raiding locations and skill level involved in raiding it, so they don’t send families to their deaths lol, they also need a very good familiarity with bestiary loot.

Raid Leaders will have to have excellent communication skills and be able to take charge and command respect. When you go on a raid you must listen to your Raid Leader, even if a leader is on a raid the leader must always stay in control and listen to the Raid Leader. Raid Leaders will have to be very familiar with the world and getting around it so he can lead people to dungeons and he must also keep up to date with strategies of killing mobs and raiding dungeons. Both of these positions are very important and take a lot of hard work, we will have a decent amount of each. The Web Master will be working with real money so that we can keep web site up and running and afford all that. He will make the payments to the host, and collect the donated money and keep track of it =) This will probably be me so I can rip off the entire guild lol, just kidding I will probably start it out, but we will see who ends up doing it.

DKP Trackers are the groups of players that track and update members DKP pools as well as help assign DKP values to items. This group of players will have the power to call out a dkp value on the spot when we encounter a new item.

Financial Council - (not decided on a tax yet, not sure if guilds in Vanguard will need to have one)
The financial Council consists of the Banker, Treasurer, Tax Collector and Web Master. The Guild Banker will be keeping track of guild funding and all funds coming in and going out. He will have a weekly/monthly database of activity so he can monitor guild spending so that we can make sure we can always afford what we need such as guild house rent, ships, horses and funds for our Artisans. If we are coming up short he will be the one to make the decision of whether or not to up the amount our members will be taxed.

Our guilds treasurer will be taking care of all items that we keep in the guild for members, such as sets of banded armor and so on, he will work on a budget from the guild banker. The guild Tax collector will be working with Family Leaders on their weekly tax. If a family can not pay their taxes than he will keep track of it, so that the banker will understand why funds are short.

Artisan Council -
Every member in the guild that chooses to put a lot of emphasis in crafting can apply to the Artisan Council to use that skill to benefit the guild as well be allotted guild funds to build their skill. For every Artisan class there will be a class rep that like all class reps are responsible to keep up with all the information on their craft.

More to come on the Artisan Council when we know more about crafting.

War Council -
The War Council is a team of leadership that organizes the guild and helps prepare the guild for battle. The council does not have the ability to just call out war, that is done by the entire leadership council. They will lead structured raids and develop strategies to ensure quick defeat of our enemies. The actual structure is still in production, but it will not be shown on a public forum such as this one.

Hey Kura, Kusa!
Glad to see another organized guild preparing for Vanguard! Nu Akii Kuraii of The New Age and part of the Haydren's Wall republica system, just stoppin in to say hi and wish ya best of luck! Haydren's Wall is lookin for guilds that are interested in creating a friendly and prosperous community for all the guildmembers within the Haydren's Wall republica system, if ya ever feel like discussing it more ya know where to me =P.

Right now The New Age is about a dozen members strong, majority being from the guild I was in while playing WoW, (We're all over 20ish and definitely hear ya when ya talk about the annoying 12 - 15year olds from World of Warcraft..)

Anyways, just sayin Cheers and Well met!

Well if it irks ya, dont join the guild. I can't see why you would post about that tiny thing. Sorry if I seem a little irritated, but I will not put up with even the smallest of trolls on our boards.

Not attacking you, just saying the obvious.:D

I wasn't trolling, I've just seen it done and never understood the reason behind it. Was hoping he'd have a compelling reason I was unaware of. I don't think its wrong, I just don't see how its right, and would like to if theres a reason.

No hate here at all.
