I don't quite get it but, generally, it makes your character more customizable by changing their attributes. Will have to see it in person before it clicks, I'm certain.

As the local cynic, it sounds like every other system that wants to promote customization and personnalization but generally leads to standard max/min builds. But as you say it's complex enough that we need to see it in action.

It seems like their focus on specific paths, and ensuring that each offers a different but equally viable direction or focus should help to avoid the troubles some other games have had with "open" class systems. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm right there with you: Sounds like WAR and their Trait system. You had X amount of slots, Y amount of traits and you picked which ones you want. You could go +3 STR, +3 CON, +3 INT or +3 WIS, +3 CON, +3 INT or +3 STR, +3 WIS, +3 CON, whatever.
That's not customization any more than putting your on "DPS Gear" or "Tanking Gear"; it's just another set of stats that will eventually be milled down to 'best'.
