I had a GW2 e-mail and I thought it was Beta invite!......ended up being a Thank you and a short video link on FB. Guess they are trying to get their FB count up idk. Anyway back to hoping again lol.

Hehehe...They got lots of people with that one. :D

My guess is that it was a dry run of their email notification system. They wanted to test things out and make sure there were no issues with distribution before it was time for the all-important beta emails.

It's actually smart...but I'm sure ArenaNet is having a good laugh at all the folks that crapped their pants thinking they were in beta. :mc:

It's not a good sign for a company to experience glee at the expense of potential customers. Are we going to get stuck in the SOE cycle all over again?

*boggle*

DEAR GOD! They sent out an email that wasn't a beta invite and some people thought it was! SATAN! SATAN! SHENANIGANS!

Maybe we're taking it a bit too seriously? Calling SOE on a company that quickly is rather...well, just wrong, man. At the expense of customers? What did it cost anyone to read an email? Nobody ACTUALLY had a heart attack or crapped their pants...those were figures of speech. :p

I think if ArenaNet were unable to laugh at something that is funny, they would be a lot more like SOE. Hopefully most potential customers can laugh with them, considering it very likely was unintentional.

I doubt they sent out the emails to intentionally pull everyone's leg...but if they did, I applaud their light-heartedness in a time that must be very stressful for them (beta with release looming). Nobody is harmed by receiving an additional email.

If they were indeed testing their email distribution system, I think it was a very smart thing to do, and providing a nice thank you email and video was generous as well (although obviously somewhat self-serving with the facebook angle).

I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but the administration / logistics of the Vanguard beta was a complete mess from start to finish (remember them trying to take polls?). I've been involved with several other betas that were just as sloppy. It's nice to see a company with their shit together a bit more. I guess having a previously successful title, even in a slightly different genre, helps a lot.

You were pulling my leg, weren't you.

You brought up the idea of "having a good laugh at..."

You were pulling my leg, weren't you.

I like to torture people who are in love, especially when it is an inanimate object.

Inanimate object?

Some ArenaNet devs...

Kidding aside...it's the game design I'm in love with. That's not an inanimate object, it's an idea.

And ideas... are bulletproof. And worth loving. :D
