Hmm, this might come off a little cold hearted. I mean 0 disrespect. I went and lit a candle for him today, and I don't practice any religion.

I just found this funny, and i put 5$ on Father Dougal Maguire. WTH eh? 1000-1 odds. !!

...and the leader of the branch of the Catholic Church that is the successor to the Inquisition!

To be fair to him, though--yes, he was a Nazi youth, but it was compulsory for all youths his age at the time, and his family was very anti-Nazi and continued that way throughout the war.

However, he was quoted as saying that all other religions (except, of course, the Catholic Church) are defective. Way to build up interfaith relations, Benedictus XVI.

*shakes her head*

Not that many other "religions" do a good job of bridging the interpolity gaps. Sometimes I wonder if they truly believe that this is how God intended things to be.

I can't respect a guy named after an 80's anime series.

Razinger Z :D (http://forum.animeland.com/index.php?thread=7310)

In all seriousness, Razinger seemed like a pretty bad choice for a pope. I suppose it's just the catholic church curling in upon itself further.

And yes, at least one other religion isn't doing a very good job of fostering interfaith community. There's something to be said about believing you get a virgin in the afterlife for every non-believer you take with you.

Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga of Honduras is third with 9-2 odds, while Joseph Ratzinger of Germany and Claudio Hummes of Brazil both follow with odds of 7-1.
With odds like that, I bet there were a lot of happy German gamblers when the white smoke went up :)

I'm not a religious person by any means but found the pope selection process to be quite interesting.

I mean how often do we get to bear witness to a real deal Conclave? :D

oh I had Francis Arinze at 10-1 :)
