As the title says, what's everyone's favorite beer?

Mine is Spaten Optimator Dopplebock.
Dark, heavy pilsner ale, but without the bitter aftertaste.

Fat Tire Ale

Nor'West Best Bitters

For "mass produced" ales I like Full Sail, just has a nice after-taste and good aroma (when burped back up via one's nostrils).

Pretty much if it's a bitter (or stout) I'll give it a go. If it's national I won't touch it more than likely, no matter how many I've had previously.

I gave up on beer ..kinda :D If I drink one or a few it's Modelo Especial with a lot of lime and salt. I used to love Flying Dog though. Of course there has to be a Gran Marnier to keep it company, no ice just a clean glass.

I don't drink a lot of beer, I generally prefer wine :) BUT, when I do, it's gotta be of the dark variety. Yummmm!!

Makes my mouth water just thinking about it :)

Occasionally I drink Grimbergen double, but I like Estrella Galicia, a beer brand typical to the northwest of Spain with a bitter taste ;).

Beer... I love beer. I don't have a favorite, but here are a few:

New Castle Brown Ale
Sea Dog Blue Paw by Shipyard
Pumpkinhead Ale by Shipyard
Yuengling Traditional Lager
Dead Guy Ale by Rogue Ales

and no matter what you may think, these are better than most domestics:

Estrella Galicia

Ooh, I've had that a couple times. Heavy for a lager, light for a ale, and with a ale like taste.

This reminds me of a bad beer joke I was told some time ago. Carlsberg and Heineken are popular brands in Europe. Budweiser is usually found only as imported beer but I know a lot of people that find its taste pretty mild, like the other two.

Four beer delivery guys meet in a bar after work. They start talking and eventually the conversation drifts to how the beer from their respective companies is better than the other's.

It's time to order, so the Budweiser guy obviously asks for a Bud, the Heineken guy asks for a Heineken, and the Carlsberg guy asks for a Carlsberg. The waiter looks at the Guiness guy (who has been pretty silent all this time) with an inquiring gaze, to which he answers "soda, please".

All the other guys turn at him asking why he didn't order a Guiness, to which he answers "Well, since everyone else was ordering soft drinks, I thought I would do the same".

I couldn't call myself a good Canadian drinker if I didn't mention Labatt Blue, Alexander Keith's, Sleeman's, and just to toss in a monkey wrench, I also drink Corona.

I prefer the beer that is still in the bottle.

:D

Sorry, can't stand beer and I couldn't resist the urge to make a bad joke!

Guinness on tap. After that, its a mood/seasonal/location thing. There are a lot of good, reliable beers (Fat Tire, for instance), but I often like to try local brews, if I'm travelling.

I tried that when a company I worked for sent me to one of their offices in Austria for 2 weeks. It didn't go so well :p

I think the best thing about being in England is walking into a pub and ordering the beer I haven't had. Found some really good regional brews.

As far as American beer goes, Pete's Wicked.

Good brands from England are New Castle Brown Ale and Hobgoblin Ale.

Guiness on tap really hits the spot. Some other good beers have been mentioned in this thread: Newcastle, Fat Tire, Dead Guy Ale (Where did you pick up a Rogue?). I've become a pretty big fan of Mirror Pond as well.

Turning 21 not too long ago, about all I've tried is Budweiser, Miller, Corona and some off-brands I didnt care for. For now a regular Bud takes the cake. My 1st brother likes Corona, and the other darker beers. I haven't really gave too many a try, as I age I suspect I'll be trying many more (Im also a casual drinker, maybe one a week or so) :ninja:

Try going to someplace like Trader Joes, or a specialty liquor shop, and pick up one or 2 of something new.
And there's a lot of good beers in this thread to start with :)

I will second the vote of trying Trader Joes (if you can find one) for some new beers. I am working my way through the wine there and that is going quite well. I am a Trader Joes fan though, I think almost everything I eat is from there these days.

We have a Trader Joes and a BevMo around. I'll read through and check out some of the ones mentioned. Not sure I've ever been in BevMo though... but im not much of a wine person or tequila (or stuff like that /w high alcohol content) so that might explain it.

Go to BevMo they have an excellent Beer selection and while you are there buy some Cider. Apple Cider, Pear Cider and what ever else they have :) Drink that funky apple juice! No idea if you can get Scrumpy Jack there but that is really good. Hardcore is good as well if I can remember correctly, been a while since I have drunk any american cider.

Cider >>>>> Beer

Domestic: I have grown accustomed to mass amounts of Bud Light.

Imported: Heineken

40 oz: Old English 800 HG

But my favorite thing to drink is whiskey on the rocks. Nothing tastes sweeter to me than a cup of ice topped off with some genuine whiskey. Some aged Scotch does the trick, and I am good friends with Jack Daniels as well.

If it is bottled and not Bud, Coors, or Miller, chances are I like it.

However, I love anything from the Alaskan Brewing Company. Their Alaskan Amber is terrific just about any time. Their seasonal brews though are fantastic. The winter ale is brewed with the fresh growth of Sitka spruce trees. You can actually taste the spruce buds in the beer (I know it does not sound appealling to taste a tree in your beer, but trust me, it is fan-tastic.) Their Smoked Porter (fall seasonal) is amazing and unique. They take the hops and smoke them with aldar, just like you would salmon. Then they brew it as you would a normal porter... you can taste the smoke in the beer. Very strong, very thick (about as thick as Guiness), and something I consider a 'sipping' beer, but man oh man is it good.

If you happen to be in Alaska you can get their stuff virtually anywhere, and if you are in Washington, Oregon, or California it doe snot hurt to ask because they are fairly popular on the west coast.

I've had a couple of the Alaskan brews, and they're pretty good.
I believe I found them at Ralphs, of all places, so I'd guess anyone that's interested shouldn't have much trouble finding them.

I'm a big fan of Belgian beers. Hoegaarden namely. It is a very nice white ale. Very nice indeed... in fact... :)

Can't go wrong with guiness though, I guess it is a bit different from your typical beer though... it isn't even carbonated! I really enjoy a well poured guiness from time to time

In Wash DC, my area.. There is/was a place called the Brickskeller. A basement bar famous for cokroaches, but also known for having every beer in the world. At least every "importable" beer.
Now at that time, it was before micro breweries and the beer explosion of the 80's. Anyways I got a thorough "taste" of all that was available at that time.

I was 18, the legal age. The year was 1972.

Anyways there's more to life than "Bud" :)

My favorite beer is cold beer.

I'll drink anything but prefer:
Guiness
Most anything from Sam Adams
Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale, Oatmeal Stout
Newcastle

Those are my favorites with the exception of a Corona with lime when in the hot sun, at a beach, or after a sporting event.

Im a huge fan of wheat beers. Sam Adams does a good job and their seasonal brews are top-notch.

I also like Dogfish Head's 9% beer. Great taste...less time to get a good buzz going.

I occasionaly enjoy a variety of Lambic beers too.

I generally don't care that much for beer except on two occasions--when it's really hot outside and I'm really thirsty...and when I'm watching a hockey game on TV (*shrug* go figure).

Surprisingly--for a Canadian--my beer of choice is Coors Lite. Fortunately, we can get it at par in Canada now. It must be due to the days when I lived in Pennsylvania :D

Molson is one of my customers. I am in thier plant in Toronto from time to time. Last year they changed thier name to Molson Coors. They are also brewing and bottling Coors in Toronto as a result. Btw the brew time for coors lite is a quite a bit longer than for Molson products.

I have a question for my fellow Guinness drinkers out here. I've determined that there are 2 types of Guinness drinkers:

1. "I enjoy a couple of pints, but its too heavy to drink more than that"
2. "Its so smooth, I can drink it all night"

I, personally, and definitely in number 2. I've been known to drink upwards of 20ish pints of Guinness if noone stops me. I joke and attribute it to being half Irish, but Guinness is easier for me to drink than water. Anyways, I'm curious how people feel drinking the blessed stuff. Too heavy, or too smooth.
