Heads up to tech watchers - looks like Microsoft is making a portable that can dock with your PC; The Origami (http://www.origamiproject.com/)

Rumors were that the PS3 could hook up to your HDTV and have power enough to run a 2nd monitor with no problem - one example presented was a racing game with your gauges and a map sent to the second screen, leaving the first dedicated to just the driving view.

Consider Vista + Vanguard + Origami. oooooohhhh

Details released in a few weeks. Doubt we'll see such a merge for a year or two, but you never know, it could happen.

Looks interested but reserving judgement, I am really picky about handhelds and portable computing.

Me too, but the thought of having a second screen to offload inventory, tells, maps, etc., is pretty cool. :D

Plus, I could take the PDFs of things to class and go, 'look you damn picky @ss teacher, I DO have a copy of the reading'.

Hum, looks like that video was very old footage and the real model could be much smaller/uglier. :(

That article also mentions you may need a more powerful version of Vista to have the tablet section of the OS.

Guess we'll know more in the coming weeks. :D

Official word is out... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/umpc/default.mspx
"Ultra-Mobile PC"

However, it looks too expensive (near $1,000) and too limited currently to do things like be used by we gamers and for games to consider using it as a secondary screen for things like maps or stats.

Ah well, it will happen one day. Looks like that day is a few years further than I thought it would be. Looks closer to '10 than '08. :(
