If you haven't seen this yet, it's great!!

First read the comic (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/03/01)

Then read the last post here (http://www.penny-arcade.com/2006/03/01) titled "It's a Good Thing I Didn't Eat Lunch"

Now that is funny!

That is pretty funny.

I'm not sure I would eat those donuts.

Well played SOE, well played indeed...

Haha, that has to be the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

That cartoon is funny, but the response has to be a classic...

Like him or not, Smed certainly shows he's human (in a great way). Excellent retribution!

Yeah, Smedley may be the "anti-christ" to the gaming community, but at least he has a sense of humor :D

Would be nice if they could put that much effort (and cash?) into developing and sticking to a single design philosophy for a game.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but it would be nice (but impossible) to be able to see the breakdown of subscriber numbers just to isolate the users whose monthly payments went to pay for those doughnuts. :p

Very funny :)

About working at SOE though - I am not a fan of SOE and may never forgive them for "what they did to" EQ. However, my only close up and personal experiences with them are two-fold--a good friend of mine works for them and loves it. And I had an offer some time back from an SOE lady regarding my FEMALE PERSPECTIVE series. It didn't go anywhere but I was very impressed with her personality and her style.

So...that kind of leaves me scratching my head. I don't know Smedley, other than by reputation, and the two above-mentioned are the only two I know from personal contact and experience. I guess no company is all bad - and no company is all good.

I know two folks there reasonably well... Steve Danuser (Moorgard) and the current community manager Blackguard (since we both worked at EQii.com for a considerable amount of time). I don't think there is a problem with the talent of the guys working at SOE, I think it is an issue of no clear cut (here we go again) Vision of what a game needs to be. It just seems like the businees side eeks into the design side too often.
