So I'm trying out Seed, figured I'd give it some time as an E3 review says there's more to it than what you see initially.
My impressions thus far, after a bit of play...
Beta :p
Seems very clunky (UI), and a bit confusing to just figure out.
There's no video/sound settings that I see, the "Game" menu has headers for Video and Sound, but no options. Did I say beta? Maybe I meant Alpha.
Moving around is pretty poor, at best.
Lots of little halts, net lag, video lag, I dunno. Maybe both.
Graphics are pretty weak. Particle affects are very basic, bordering on ugly.
UI in general is meager. A plus is that you can move/resize most things, love that. Downside is it's very slow in responding to input (mouse clicks or typing). Chatting is confusing, as are system messages (all in the same chat box, often repeated unnecessarily (system messages). Other players dialogs with NPCs are global instead of via tells, annoying. UI is far from optimized, imho.
Online manual appears to cover most topics, but with very limited information. Leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
Tips on tools and such could be more informative. It was very confusing to learn basic repairs (what you seem to be doing as a noob). The process is simple, but learning how to do it wasn't. Manual really should be included in the d/load, or a direct link to it via the game or at least the launcher.
Speaking of which, the launcher/launch process is pretty lame. That could be cleaned up considerably.
Finally, the client crashed on me after a few hours of play. And the game simply won't run now (will log in, see character, but soon as I try to click anything or move the client crashes).
I still want to give it a go and see what were it might lead. But I certainly find this game far from finished, and far from optimized. Beta, definitely still in beta.
Anyone else trying this out? Thoughts on it so far? I find the idea behind it interesting ... if I can get it to work again that is. heh
