My Brother-in-law-to-be and I both love playing video games... unfortunately with 2 kids and a wife he doesn't have that much time to play them so MMOGs are pretty much out of the picture...

Does anyone know of some good PC based cooperative play games that aren't high end system resource hogs?

Do any of you know if morrowwind or oblivion can be played online in a cooperative environment?

Having pretty much dedicated my life to MMOGs and some single player console games I feel a bit out of the loop. RPGs and quest/puzzler/action games are the best bet as we both enjoy them.

Oblivion is not multiplayer sadly.

I have been enjoying Civilization 4, both single player and multiplayer with friends. Is a very solid (My opinion) strategy game, and can easily suck you in. In the multi player you can be on same team or not, and if life gets crazy around you can can hit save and come back to the game at a later time (in multiplayer). Something about starting a cizilization in the stone ages and taking over the world realy appeals to me I guess :pirate:

I'm not sure if this would be your thing, but Half Life 2 scales really well on most PC's. The graphics engine Valve use is superb, and you can really get a great visual experience out of a fairly low specced PC. It's also a fantastic game to boot.

EDIT
Isn't there a multiplayer mod for Neverwinter Nights? I'm sure I remembered reading as much, though this was some time ago.

Considered consoles? Could be good for hookin up the kids at times as well. :D

Yep, I've played NWN muliplayer with Giftmacher. With the two of us plus a henchman each and my ranger pet, it almost felt like a D&D group, heh. :)

Yeap probably best possible move. It keeps what sounds like a low resource system from getting over worked and the kids can play when Dad is doing what Dad's do.

On the note of Civilization IV, there are a couple of really good fantasy mods for it that might be up your alley; Fall from Heaven I (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=148075) and Fall from Heaven II (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171398). First one's finished, second one is still a pretty early release, but still playable and pretty fun.

Anyway, I'll second Civ IV. My bro and I have been having fun with it (with said mods and without).

Meet at the Wii? Good to keep the kiddies occupied and run them outa bounce.
