Just wanted to thank all of the UK people responsible for catching the terrorists before they had a chance to do any damage either here (USA) or abroad.
Congraduations to a victory to the civilized world, and stopping the un-evolved religious freaks out there.
:D

Yep, good show over there. :D
Now let's just hope everyone keeps their guard up. After you duck that first cream pie, it's a lot harder to get out of the way of the second one coming from the side.

Yea, let me be another to offer a huge and hearty thanks to everyone involved to catch these.. assholes.
I know a lot of people are pissed. Pissed about the audacity of these asses, pissed about the intrusion, and pissed that there are actually people out there that hold the sactity of human life in so little value. For me though, I haven't been pissed and I haven't been scared -- yet.
Instead I've felt a lot of resignation. Resignation knowing that this is what our world is coming to, that this is what our world might be. Resignation knowing that as much as we fight, there's really very little we can actually *do*. Resignation in knowing that no matter how I fight, it's not a fight where there's a clearcut winner. Instead, it's a fight of the spirit. It's a fight of not giving in. Not giving in to the fear that these assholes are trying so hard to perpetuate. It's a fight of faith, of courage, and of conviction. It's a fight of knowing what's right, of standing up for what one believes in. It's a fight that means standing strong in the face of adversity.
I'm rambling and I know it.
What it boils down to is I'm sitting here tonight comtemplating my flight home. Early last week I flew out to Oregon (yea, there's a BIG terrorist target :p )and now it would seem I should have very little to fear going home. But, there's still a nagging feeling of uncertainty. I have to go thru Denver (yea again, I *know* it's not one of the targets by any means) Mainly what it boils down to is I hate flying as it is - this just adds to it, in a bigger way than I'd ever imagine. The difference? I'm not going to let this fear, whatever it may be, overtake me. This little vent, should you have had the patience to read thru it, is my mantra, my venting, my safety net and my ramblings :p

Some of the raids and arrests were in a city very close to where I live... but its one without an airport nearby, which is kind of odd. :p

Just glad they got them, I worry for my brother who travels all the time (has offices in norwich). At least that was one of my first thoughts...
Second thought being, terrosits caught means others are out there, just like roaches. With all the critisism we here in the USA have made about the tapping of phone lines, the NSA invading privacy. It gives it all a little better perspective as to what we are up against, and what we are fighting.
These people will do anything, and at any cost.

And someone recently had the nerve to bitch about people making jokes about killing terrorists

Hehe
Apparently those rounded up had filmed their martyrdom videos a fair while in advance. Just a liiiittle bit incriminating, don't you think? :)

Not exactly pointing to the intellegence level of this crop of bad guys. I am glad they were stopped, but really from everything that I am reading they were chuckle heads and stopping them I hope hasn't given the cops/good guys a false sence of security. The smart ones are the dangerous ones.
And for the record we had a problem with the objectification of a Muslim not a terrorist. Terrorists come in more flavors than Islamic and the natural assumption of the joke was that Muslim = Arab which just isn't true.

Since I flew out to the states on a Continental flight on the day some claim they were planning to strike I am very greatful for their arrest. I was more than happy to comply with all the extra security.

Does anyone know the reason that books are now banned on flights to/from the UK? I'm completely stumped on that one. The liquids ban makes sense, as well as electronic devices, but magazines and books...? I mean, I know books are dangerous, but I always thought that that referred to dangerous *ideas*, not as the ability to make things go BOOM.

I flew to the states and back a few days after the alert. I was allowed to take books and medication but no liquids, pastes or gels. coming back they permitted mobiles and Laptops in a fair sized bag. Security was tightest in the UK.
