Back on May 5th I updated to a new version of my net security software so it reset all counters. I use ZoneAlarm Suite, which is a combined Firewall, Anti-virus, Messenger, Spyware and Adware.
Just now I happened to check the event counters, and was to put it mildly horrified...

caveat - I keep my system on and online pretty much 24/7

Intrusion Attempts (port scans etal): 1,628,933
Inbound Access Requests Blocked: 10,856,404
Outbound Access Requests Blocked: 979 (spyware/virii trying to phone home)
EMail attachemnets Blocked: 3
Viruses Treated: 11
Spyware Treated: 1079
IM Suspect messages blocked: 279

All that in a scant 4 months. Makes one rather paranoid, but then again they ARE out to get you!

So I'm guessing you don't have a router? A lot of that will flatline if you hook up some nice network address translation. :D

It's the numbers it doesn't catch that would worry me. hehe...hopefully that was all of it.

That's what got past my cable modem, supposedly has a hardware firewall in it, lol, yeah right...

That was indeed all of it, ZA blocks behaviour as well as the known list, and that seems to have got it all.
