That looks fantastic! The whole little sister thing is just bizzare, I love it. Not sure why they added a reverb effect to the narrators voice though. Anyway, I can't wait for this.

I think the narator echo was to help pull you in to the feel of the world. :D

Hint/Tip - If you pause during the high-res version you can get extra info/spoilers from the Plasma-Quick station menu screens that the dev does not talk about. ;)

It's not going to be like SS2. That's pretty much confirmed. For example, there's no inventory screen. The gameplay starts like Jedi Outcast. At first all you can do is shoot and use 1 plasmid. There is no security/ hacking until a few levels in. In fact most mechanics are introduced mid-way through the game instead of at the beginning.

Apparently people were overwhelmed by the open-ended start of SS2, so the start of BS is linear and and player is not given character development options until later.

i thought SS2's start was fairly good, kinda "wtf just happened oh god what's going on" (after the training, of course) it summed up the game perfectly

as for bioshock not being like SS2, i can completely understand that.. i'm just bummed about no co-op

Very nice demo indeed, artwork and design is amazing. The texture detail screamed console though, which is really disappointing. I doubt the full game will bring better textures, nothing mentioned about it.

Had a lot of fun with the initial lightning plasmid, very nice effects, and the DX10 water looks amazing. The scene with the plane and the water rushing in is fantastic, can't wait for lots of events like that throughout the game.

Definitely going to buy today.

My word of advice is NEVER move on until your whole map is cleared.

Only got to play the demo once yesterday before zonking out, slept all the way up until time to get ready for work. Back home from work and going to have another go, went too fast last time... just figured out towards the end of the demo that the "zoom" is really an aim down the sights, so I'm gonna change the controls around a bit and have another go.

Hopefully if all goes well, by this afternoon I'll have some new comics and a copy of Bioshock to keep me thoroughly entertained through the weekend. :pirate:

Btw, Power to the People stations do NOT show up on the map, so be careful.

What the station does for people that don't know, is that you can upgrade your weapon for free once, and the machine dies.

Another hint, when you first get telekineses, I would recommend ditching the lightning and keeping incinerate. I won't spoil it and tell you why, but you should figure it out when you think what happens when you apply a fire to ......I f'ed up and didnt do that. I seen a door i should have gone through. Have you seen the spoiler hiders some forums have? You put a block of text into it and make your post. If someone wants to read your text they can click on a "spolier" tag and it reveals it to the reader. Is it possible to have such a thing on SV?

Yes. FOH is run on the same software and they have the system you are talking about.

Regarding the copy protection - I really wouldn't worry about it guys. It likely tracks it by your name and address. I'm sure as long as that matches to their database it would be fine. If you need to call them to link it to the new system, I'm sure it wouldn't be any more difficult than telling them you changed hardware and need to bind it to the new system. Seriously, they wouldn't choose a system that costs them money (in terms of requiring they have employees there 24/7 to verify all these keys.)

I'm sure it isn't anywhere near as big of a deal as the posts on that board make it out to be. It is probably no worse than something like Steam.

Well, you'd be wrong then.

www.pcgamer.com

Ok, still not a disaster. I've had this happen with Windows XP before—all I have to do is call the number in the manual, read off the reactivation request code supplied by the activation wizard, and they'll give me an unlock code. Well, not so simple in this case—the support number for the US listed in the manual didn't work, giving me a "We cannot connect your call at this time" message. So I called the Canadian number, which went through. After four minutes on hold, I was told that the only way they'd unlock it is if I take a photo of the disc and the manual and email it to them. Wow… even Microsoft doesn’t make you do that.

What I love most about BioShock is that it has the BEST blend of spooky and frightening gameplay.

Unlike Doom you won't find that many mobs dashing out at you in pitch black, but you will definitely be spooked by ... well... the entire game.

Even what the mobs say when they are idle is hilariously spooky. Gotta love the "I love Jesus" song.

Oh and the diary tape called "The Wild Bunny"

Weapons. What makes Bioshock as good as it is? The way it handles weapons (I consider plasmids to be weapons). They're diverse, consistent, interact with the environment, play off each other, well balanced, limited ammo. The environment is great. The story is fine. The enemies are enemies. Those are easy to pull off. They would be nothing without the gameplay diversity that the weapon system provides.

Definitely having fun with this one. I'll probably replay it 3 or 4 times before actually bothering to finish it.

**** no, i dont want to end up with her mom, one of my best friends calling me to go over n stay with her while she tries to sleep. lol

This game is just to creepy for little kids. It was my fault for even allowing it. I am debating on whether i should let my nephew who is almost 10 watch me play. lol I dont think i will though, this game spooks me lol

It's almost all I wanted, System Shock 2 was scarier and better written tho.

Anyone else find they can only play about an hour or so before they are totally wiped out and need a break? It's just that intense! :)

I swore I saw my little cousin shudder when I played the tape entitled "Mind Control"

Yeah I haven't really played it much due to that. I wanna explore, and keep exploring, next thing I know lights are going out, strange sounds, etc.

I also haven't played too much because of my system, most notably with this game is the fact that my sound card is so horribly not up to par. Hopefully that'll be remedied soon with a paycheck...

Zelnick also revealed that the Xbox 360 and PC title has shipped 1.5 million units worldwide to date and that it's on track to become "one of the fastest-selling games in history."

In the nine days since the LIVE demo was released on August 12, BioShock had outperformed every other demo available over Microsoft's Xbox 360 download service.

Awesome.

I've heard that the 360 version already had some plasmids that the pc version didn't have, is that really true? I haven't played the 360 version so I don't know.

That was the only thing I found so far on what's in either patch.
