I have yet to miss a C&C game :) The original and Red Alert are of course my faves ;)
Thanks for the infos; time to read up on this methinks!
[Hmm, that doesn't bode well. I hadn't realised that Westwood is no more, so this game is not being developed by the people who brought us the original C&C games. Soon as I heard that, my expectations dropped drastically...]

I hate to tell ya this, but Westwood Studios has been gone for years. The last thing they did was Earth & Beyond. To my knowledge the C&C licence moved to EA back with Red Allert, so actually, yeah, the same peeps that made most of the C&C games are still making them. I believe the only one they made was the very first C&C. (Not counting Dune, which for some reason many seem to forget.)

LOL... C&C man... was fun back in the day.
Still it was frustrating as hell multiplayer, the net code was'nt solid. War2 had smoother multiplayer. And AOE was out then also, or thereabouts.
Had tons of RTS choices then. I'l have to look at the demo and see what they got :)

Demo is now up/available on Fileplanet.
Without giving away too many spoilers...
- There is a (one level) pre-campaign available, which serves as the training missions.
Advanced players will go through this pretty quickly.
- There is a single campaign level available.
- There are some cuties and known peeps in live action (high-def) movies.
Jennifer Morrison (http://www.us.imdb.com/name/nm0607185/) - Allison Cameron on House
Grace Park (http://www.us.imdb.com/name/nm0661825/) - Boomer on the new BattleStar Galactica
Michael Ironsides (http://www.us.imdb.com/name/nm0000461/) - countless things, most notably the Tom Clancy games
Full C&C 3 cast can be found here (http://www.us.imdb.com/title/tt0848263/)
- There is skirmish play.
Only one map, but you can set the AI difficulty on different settings.
Sadly, there are some limitations, it is, after all, just a demo. There is no online multiplayer play. You can only play the GDI. There are just the 2 maps total (one campaign, one skirmish).
All in all some good fun though. Should hold pretty solid for the month there remains till launch. :D
And hey, we are goin back to the beginning of the genre and it's still going strong. (Though one could argue Dune really started it, which preceded the C&C series.)

This game is a must have, imo.
Just out of curiosity, i have yet to see a nuke, only played the campaign map, but how does it flow on your pc Rab?
Shot the Ion Cannon, really really drooled over those particles ...

Totally flys on my system. Forgot to mention that. :D
You don't want to see the nuke. IMO they can build up to it way too quick. (I've gotten a warning notice at about 10 min into the match that there is a hand of nod up.) It's like "*KAPOWIE!!!!* omfg where'd my base go?!111?!?!  " I think it has a bigger radius than the Ion Cannon, but it also has a really long recharge.
Finally beat one game on medium last night. I won't reveal any strats, but I think I've got a few that will allow me to beat medium more frequently. There are 2 settings above medium though. I don't even want to know how hard those would be.

Just finished my first easy mode skirmish game, had fun building up defense then an army to go out and wipe them all, will have to try a medium tomorrow night.
I need this game. ;)

There is one thing I discovered that the training missions don't teach - If, when placing a building, you hold the mouse button down, you can move the mouse and it will rotate the building. When you let go of the button the building will be placed at the angle you set.
I don't know if this matters for most buildings, but for some things, such as the refinery and turrets, the placement angle may have a small impact.
Edit: Hum hum hum. I've beaten it 2 more times on med, but lost like 2x as many times. I've got some decent strats goin, but the strats vs. this AI would be different from a peep. The AI also seems to swap up it's strats a touch. I've seen it do games where it's used the super weapon, others where it ignored it, some where it went for air-superiority, and others where it used the mechs.
I don't know though. I think I'm totally going to loose if this is the normal speed players will move at. I'm just all 'wah wah wah' in terms of trying to keep up with everything. :p I think I need to see the strats of the other 2 sides. The Nod stealth seems like it would trump... whatever it is that the GDI have. They just don't seem to have any kind of balancing point. Still most curious about the aliens. :D

*flex* I'm getting leet strats. I can pretty much consistently beat the AI on medium. Have to try hard soon.
Turns out I was missing a key strat with GDI and that was causing me to have a real hard time in the early game.

I just download the demo which was 6 hours or so long. I can't believe how sweet this game is. You only get to play the GDI against NOD on a skirmish map but its enough to show me its worth buying. they really put some work into this game. This is a RTS (Real Time Strategy) game for anyone that doesn't follow C&C games. This is the only non-mmog that I bother playing. You will definitely need skill to play against other players, You can realize this after playing it on medium difficulty.

I think I'll punt you into the existing C&C 3 thread.
My only remaining comments right now is - every time I try and play hard I get wtfpwned. I can beat med 100% of the time now (I've even tried crazy things like 'can I beat him with just Zone Troopers' and stuff), but for some reason I stand almost no chance against the hard setting. :(

I think hard cheats. ;)
Seriously, I think it moves faster than a human could and has extra bonuses.
I'll be like building my first vehicle building and then suddenly Nod comes trotting up with half a dozen bikes and a dozen troops and I'm like wtfpwned?!?!
