Does anyone know how fletching arrows is going to be implemented for Rangers--

I have heard a couple of things--that you can only make arrows if you are an artificer and/or fletching will be a ranger only skill regardless of your crafting profession--

thanks

Currently the only people that can make arrows are Rangers via the forage ability. Bows are made by Artificer/carpenters above lvl 10. If you're a ranger then the ingredients to use to make arrows are:

"pile of shapr rocks"
"Clump of Feathers"
"bundle of sticks"

they are combines using slash commands for the time being. Eventually the /assemble command will be removed.

here is the current command to make arrows.

/assemblyaddingredient "Clump of Feathers"
/assemblyaddingredient "pile of sharp rocks"
/assemblyaddingredient "bundle of sticks"
/assemble

You will need to make this into a macro.. Please refer to
http://vgrangers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=893

for details.

Thanks--

It took a few hours in game--but I finally got the macro to work, apprently the spacing is really key :)

Does anyone know if this is a feature that will be corrected by launch or are we going to have to kept the macro for live game?

thanks agian

I personally have a view of a ranger mainly as an archer with some mele ability.(not a lite tank that can stealth and pull with a bow)That is opposite VANGUARD'S current vision of the ranger class. I would love to see rangers as the premier ranged dammage dealers with an extensive fletching crafting tree.Perfection, for me would be a perma pet that could grow with you in the game. What ever you want...tell VANGUARD.Beta is a chance to be heard. Go to the beta forums..or comment in game using bug report. Arrow assembly except with a macro was still broken last I checked.

I have been playing a ranger in beta and I am really enjoying it so far. I notice that my melee ability is very strong, but I expect that ranged ability will get better as you progress through the game. I could be wrong, because I've only played to level 10. I would think that the Vanguard view of a ranger is stronger ranged damage in the later levels, as this is how they were in EQ. I hope this is correct anyway. I would hate to play a ranger into the later levels and realize I'm always going to be confined to melee, because the ranged is the reason I am choosing a ranger. Any input from rangers who achieved higher levels in beta?

I think they've stated that its been stated a ranger will eventually have a choice to make whether to be a ranged fighter or a dual wield melee fighter. I'm more a melee style player myself(Mostly because I solo a lot), but I like being able to soften up mobs with an opening ranged attack. When in a group setting I rangers can dish out some serious damage with ranged though... This is coming from a level 10 Ranger, not sure about higher than that.

I'm still torn between Monk and Ranger for release. I like the ranger for the above stated reason (ranged then melee). But I think I like the Monk style overall more. But right now Rangers are dealing TONS of damage (Although they lowered the damage on windsong) so it makes me want to stick with them.

Decisions. Decisions...

Well I hope you are right about being able to mold your character into what's fun for YOU to play.

As of the last few hours of open beta...

After foraging for the correct points, shafts, and feathers (1 ea required per 5 arrows/bolts):

1) Open your abilities, select the crafting tab
2) Select your final assembly recipie category for Ranger
3) Select from the available recipies for arrows or bolts
* You will see a list of the required types of points, shafts, and feathers
4) Select the Assemble button. Fletching progress meter appears, and product is displayed in a loot window.

My interface terminology may be off because I haven't spent any time in true crafting just yet.

Does this require you to be near an assembly station, or can this be done in the field?

This is independent of assembly stations - I was able to assemble in the field.

ok.. let me clarify all of this due to the new patches so hopefully everyone will understand how to get arrows.

Currently in Vanguard there are 3 ways to get arrows.
General Goods or Ranged Wepon vendor. The Ranged wepon vendor sells arrows all the way up to lvl 40 i believe for about 4sp a stack of 50.
Fletching
At level 10, all rangers instantly learn a class ability called "fletching" this gives you the ability to craft arrows and bolts while in the field using resources you collect using the ability "forage" you can learn forage from your local ranger instructor. (recepie's instantly learned when you hit lvl 10)
Crafting - Carpentry(artifacer)
as early as a lvl 5 carpenter you can create arrows. The strongest arrows in Vanguard are currently crafted by carpenters. the recepie can be found off of the local artifacer instructor. the recepie calls for 1 weakened board. If you get an A in crafting, you get 50 arrows, a B in its quality gives you 40, ect all the way down to 20 for a D. The damage for all quality arrows are the same. also in crafting, you can embue your arrows with special ingredients as well to give them a bonus damage. Currently you can use these special resources to give such bonus's as: fire damage, cold damage, ice damage, snare arrows, ect.

Hope that clarifies up this post, since it appears to have been active for almost a month now with no true responce. I would also like to say welcome as this is my first post here and I hope to come to enjoy this community of vanguardians as we explore this new land of which we now call home.

Thank you SO much. This is exactly the information I've been searching for. Especially the crafting part. I had been told many different things. I appreciate you taking the time to post this.

Well I was trollin though cuz my rng is lvl 8 right now and wanted to know about the fletch ability. Im going to and some more stuff to the thread cuz im not sure if its just not know, never ben posted, or its just from resent updates.

1. Arrow yeilds have changed it gos upto 200 for A+ Q now. There is also a dmg increase for A+ Q now as well.(at least for blacksmiths)

2. This one I know for sure blacksmiths can make arrow as well I know cuz im a blacksmith. I have recipes for copper and tin arrow and bolts + all copper thrown weapons.

The fisrt one was a very recent update the second one i think was just not known cuz I have had copper arrow recipes since i started playin the game. Got em with in the first week of playin.

I'd nver made ranger arrows before I found this thread, and now I'm at level 20 can make "Warden Arrows".

Better than artificer arrows with 80 damage compared to the 38 for the barbed arrows (although the next arrow up might be better than the ranger ones)
