Odd, I could swear we made a thread on this already. Anyways...
GameSpot article and dev interview (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/shadowrun/news.html?sid=6164278&tag=topslot;title;1&om_act=convert&click=topslot) on Shadowrun.
Still no firm date for it, just a broad window for H1'07.

HAHAHAHAHA
Really cool Intellectual Property? Check. Devolved into the most generic possible game that pays no attention to the IP? Check.
Next you'll be telling me that they are making Aliens Vs Predator or Judge Dredd as a team based shoot em up. Ooh they already did and it sucked.
Shadowrun needs to be a game with slightly more care about it than yet another retarded FPS.
Well at least it isnt a platformer.

I started the previous thread about a Shadowrun MMO but, bah whatever gets the hits.
Anyways it does look like a fun game but it is sad to see them taking absolutely no advantage of the premise by making this style of game. Honestly even a cinematic adventure game, ala Fahrenheit: The Indigo Prophecy, would make an amazing Shadowrun game, the very thought of such is making me drool as I type this.
Ah well, maybe if the FPS does well we will see more Shadowrun games in other genres. Cross your fingers.

Well, "Shadowrun" (in this case) is a PC / Xbox 360 game, so this thread pre-dates any kind of multi-license aspects.

Always a possibility.

To the Shadowrun Online Community,
We have some unfortunate news that we must now share.
Microsoft has requested that we immediately halt production of Shadowrun Online. In a few short days, the project will shut down and these domains will be transferred over to Microsoft as they have requested.
We are disappointed by these developments, especially after our recent leaps in progress with the engine and art pipeline, but Sixth World Games will continue to forge forward as an independent game studio. As both game developers and fans of the Shadowrun world, we do still hope that at some point in the future Microsoft will realize what a truly unique IP they have in Shadowrun. We hope they will one day come to understand how truly successful a genuinely faithful video game of Shadowrun could only be.
But, we move on. I am pleased to announce that we have a new project in the works. Our newest project, on which pre-production is already well underway, will feature a cyberpunk setting similar to that of Shadowrun Online but closer to the traditional Gibson-esque cyberpunk genre in terms of systems and environment.

If anything that, to me, indicates that MS is considering the possibility.
Note that the peep mentions, "Microsoft has requested that we immediately halt production of Shadowrun Online." Emphasis there on "we". There is nothing in that letter/post that indicates that MS itself would not consider doing a Shadowrun Online.

Does Microsoft even make 360 games that aren't FPS games?

Goooooood question - though technically I'm not sure Microsoft Game Studios actually makes any games themselves. I'm pretty sure they just a distributor.
Looks like they do a bunch of car and sim things.

You might be suprised. I love it! I would reccomend the PC version because, even after game balancing I'm still getting top 1-3 spots in ranking. You can also use an xbox controller if you decide you don't like the kb/m (why though!?!?) and if you have a newer computer (8600gts or better with a c2d and 2gb RAM) you should run it fine.
While everyone's pantys might be in a bunch because this isn't a roleplaying game, the general Shadowrun theme is pretty cool. This game has a feel I just can't put my finger on... and I'm hooked. Sooo many combinations you can choose.
It's like a more interesting version of counterstrike with 4 races and several spells/tech upgrades that really influence gameply. While they upset some tabletop fans by using this IP, they did a great job at what they set out to do and that was create engaging original multiplayer experience.
BTW I played a little shadowrun back in the day both pnp and sega, while another rpg would be nice... I'm glad I gave this a chance. I'd also like to add that I seem to be in the extreme minority as a PC user playing this game, but no xbox users seem to notice until they get an achievement point for resurecting me (then a mad dash to res me starts to happen...).
The voice chat quality over live is also great... and everyone playing seems to have it. Much better then steam (I'm an avid DoD:S'er).
Okay, I'm rambling... but I haven't had this much fun with a FPS since I was introduced to multiplayer quake. Look into it before you write it off, hopefully a demo will be out soon.

I'm still really surprised they launched with only 9 maps. Only 9 maps on an FPS game just blows me away.

What about those of us that dont have a state of the art computer?
Would a P4 3.0ghz and a x1950PRO run the game?

This is taken from a Dev at the shadowrun forums:
"Min you want to have an x800 or 6800. To run with all the features on, high resolution, and lots of aa you'll need a high geforce 7 series or the 8 series, or an ati x1800/x1900."
According to the same fella, the game reccomends dual core, it can also run good on single core at 2.8 Ghz and up.
If you have Vista, games for windows says it requires a rating of 4 and reccomends a rating of 5(no computer is above 5.9 currently). Do with this what you will.
I'm still really surprised they launched with only 9 maps. Only 9 maps on an FPS game just blows me away.
There are a small ammount of maps. The devs explain this as there being a lot of effort needed in map design. With teleporting through walls, gliding etc there are added elements to account for in design.
It really hasn't bothered me... I mean, I play day of defeat and most servers only use 4-6 maps anyway. I would actually rather they add more game types to the game before more maps. Either way it's really fun, just don't expect a typical shooter; people take longer to kill, cast spells, fly, and come back to life ;)
