Changing crafter class?

I tried crafting for the first time yesterday and as I was reading the text from the Darknarg (sp?) "crafting advisor" I inadvertently selected the wrong crafting profession (artificer). This was immediately obvious to me (the screen reported that my crafting class had been set) so I started to look around for a way to fix my mistake.

I approached all of the 3 crafting class instructors but the non-artificing instructors told me that they had nothing for me and the artificing instructor wanted me to continue the "introduction to crafting" quest line.

I asked a few people in the chat channels. No one knew what was wrong (several people told me that I should be able to approach either the instructors or the advisor to reset my crafting class) and the only solution which offered any potential was to finish the "introduction to crafting" quest series and then again approach the instructors and/or advisor to reset my class.

Sadly, it's now too late to make a long story short -- the bottomline is that even after completing the quest series none of the instructors or advisor had anything for me. The silver lining is that I'm now a level 3 artificer.

Any suggestions?

I wandered over to Halgarad and checked out the local crafting hall. The blacksmithing instructor didn't want to talk to me at all and the artificing instructor had the usual recipes to offer to me.

The outfitter instructor had an interesting option -- something like "I want to change my trade craft." It sounded like what I wanted, but when I clicked on it the instructor's communication windows flickered briefly and then it came back just as it was before. I'm not sure exactly what happened but the bottom line is that I was not able to successfully change my trade craft.

So perhaps only certain crafting instructors in certain locations are able to help you change your crafting skill. Assuming that's the case I'll continue to wander a bit to see what is out there.

I have had the exactly same problem, and while asking questions in general chat, found another person with the same problem. All the outfitter trainers give the dialogue box to change your profession but you get nowhere.
Several petitions later,... still no answer *sigh*

You might have to complete the training for artificer before the option to allow to switch to a different craft will work. From what you said in the initial post it did not sound like you finished the training first before trying to change. I know it worked last night, since I switched my 5th level dwarf artificer over to blacksmith in Bordinar's Cleft.

How many quests did you do?

I'm a level 6 Artificer and I did all the quests in the crafting circle in Leth Nurae. I tried to change at the Outfitter Instructor, but the dialog box just blinked and nothing happened.

Ha! I found a solution :)

I found out it was the Outfitter Instructor that was bugged in Leth Nurae, at the Blacksmith Instructor I did get a question if I was sure I wanted to change.

So I changed to blacksmithing lvl 1, then all the quests opened up at the Crafting Advisor and I chose the Outfitter quest :) Now I'm lvl1 Outfitter as I wanted.

I am having this same problem, I am using the Dien Haltet guy to do the change, but he doesnt let me. I have finished the "tutorial", I think so anyways.

He is the only trade person that gives me the option to change and his window is bugged.

Any word on this?
