Hey I am getting Vanguard pretty soon, and I have been doing a lot of research on it. I decided I would be a warrior, but I am having trouble to picking what class I should be. I want to be on the evil side on the team pvp server, so I widdled my choices down to Vulmane, Lesser Giant, and Orc. I understand Vulmane have more dexterity than the other two, but the other two have more attributes that suit warrriors.
Also, what is really more important for a warrior, constitution or strength? I would really like some advice on this. Thanks

Honestly, as long as you don't pick a race that puts a large amount of its attribute points into Int and Wis, pick what you want and what racial ability passive and active you like. The points you can spread out how you like as you level. Max stat cap is the same for all races at 900. Gear and Buffs play a large majority role of your stats anyway.

As far as con vs str, both are important but Con probably a tad moreso than Str. You can't go wrong with a LG though. 3% mitigation passive bonus + 50% hp active bonus (60 sec duration). You can spread your points however you like from there. I look at the race abilities first, see which one I like, then make sure the race doesn't dump 4 points into tertiary stats (least two important) like int or wis. As long as the points stay in my primary (Dex/Con) or secondary(Str/Vit) stats then I'm good with it.

Have been following the game for a while and am going to pick it up on release. The main question is: Is it possible to raise a good warrior with races other than the typical ones?
How hard would it be to roll a goblin warrior, for example?

I don't think you're going to get a reliable answer on this. The biggest difference will probably show up at the level cap, and anyone who's hit it in beta hasn't done so with all of the recent changes in place, (as far as I know).
One thing I would say, though, is that there are plenty of races with relatively coherent stats for a warrior, (which is just one type of heavy fighter, to be clear). I'd just stay clear of the clearly caster oriented races, (if there are even any who can be warriors; I haven't checked).

Thanks guys for your advice. I think I am going to roll orc warrior because I like their racial the most. Also, I like the +2 Con. Again thanks for your input, and hope to see you guys in the game. :spiderman:

dwarf racial is best for tank.. immune to stun, poison, knockbakd + mitigation bonus is the win

get stunned and lose aggro = grp/raid wipe...so yea i say dwarf

Varanjar, of course!! :P

Seriously, I think if you base your toon off of the game mechanics at the time, you'll wind up remorseful later. I can't tell you how many Trandoshans I ran into in SWG who hated their toons because they chose them for the racial ability, and 3 years worth of patching later there's no such thing as racial bonuses.

My advice is to just go with what you like :D

Yea and plus they have +3 constitution per level (over 10) which is pure hp bonus.

Dwarfs, Lesser Giants, Orcs, any human, Halflings, wood elves, the two barbaian classes make good tanks. The diffrences between them will be small assuming they assing their attibues right. However choosgin a class like goblin would be a pretty poor idea as you are almost wasting 4 points every level making a waste of 164 points at max level.

id suggest you choose a race that either has a cool racial abilty to you or a race youd like to play.

Heh, that is why I chose Zabrak :). Best racial, but I chose a shitty profession, well the shittiest profession (carbinier). But I eventaulyl became a bh pistoleer and later a fencer, tka, brawler... getting a little sidetracked.

But anyhow ya I think that it will be bad if I care to much about one race, because they will change thigns around a lot due to the bitchy complaining people have.

Is it just me or is the LG racial a little it overated?

I think LG racial is a nice ability, but I wouldn't say it's far and above better than all others. It can be used in a raid on a pull where you know the mob has high spike damage and you want to absorb it. Pop 50% health, pull, take the hit then keep going. But, Dwarves have a nice ability also with raid friendliness. Kojan humans also get a nice ability to heal 45% of their hp's and mana. This also builds alot of hate since the heal is so big. Imagine a Kojan warrior with 6000 hp's pulling the mob, taking the big hit, then popping a 2700 hp heal on himself. Or, he could use it on someone else. Halflings get a major dps and hate boost, but no mitigation or hp boost.

Many of the abilities are nice, and all have a place where they can shine or be used. I don't think any of them are so dominant that they make all others pale in comparison. Which is nice really. They are all useful in their own way, and all potent as well.

I really have nothing useful to add except I think we'd all be alot happier if
we just rolled what we thought was cool, instead of what would be best
at one or the other thing, at the end of the line.

Fortunately I think the orcs in VG are pretty tough lookin so I rolled one of them
plus my mate wanted a goblin and so we still get to start out together :D
Bleeding great.
