Im trying to go in after downtime, and when i click play all it starts to login then just shows my character in the character creation screen. What the heck do i do?

Are we all on Targonor, or is this hitting all servers (hadn't tried making a new character on a different server to see if that changed anything).

Im on flamehammer and its doing it there, made a guy on woefeather real quick and it worked, went back to flamehammer and still bugged, no idea wtf is going on

Gotta love the cop out of closing the official forums prior to launch so they can avoid having to respond to the community.

I'm not down on them for the bug. It happens. I even understand the whole forum thing. But THIS is one of the examples of when it is nice to have ONE place where you are fairly sure the company is looking.
The Tech support forum they are using is probably a good place too but frankly its a unified tech support for all SOE games and I have very low confidence that its very effective for this kind of stuff.
Anyway..I'm just hanging out in "Limbo (0,0)" with some of my friends chaatting for a while and playing with / commands :)

Just wanted to report that my characters are on Florendyl and the same thing is happening there. I am sure it is on all servers. I feel fairly certain that somewhere someone can observe that the server population is 0 (zero) and I am sure that will have them scratching their heads. I think they will figure it out and we will all be back in playing very soon.

They MIGHT be trolling here or they might be over at tentonhammer or Vanguard Spheres or they might be anywhere. One of the major complains about no official forums is that it makes it harder to provide feedback and to have a high confidence that its being heard. This is one of those times.
You can assume that its being heard if you want. Until someone shows up to say so or the issue is fixed we are all just posting about a bug that Sigil needs to address on a forum that they don't run among a lot of other forums that they don't run.
As for havintg somethign else to do ..we're doing it we're posting on this forum and others because the game isn't up for us at the moment :P

why do I hear people saying they aren't getting what they payed for? If everyone got the same pre order as me I haven't payed for anything for these extra "free" days Maybe once the game goes fully live then you can start to complain about not getting your monies worth.

So what..we have a little downtime, why the drama?? MEN DON'T CRY PEOPLE. Hell..my wife isn't even upset.......let's get some booze and just wash away our sorrows please. I think what most of the "no offical forum" people fail to realize is the Devs do not need to troll all the fourms. Each and every affiliate site has it's own moderators, several of them, that do the trolling for Sigil. They have direct communication with Sigil so the important things gets to them quicker because they don't have to send Glip and Elar out to try and read through all the BS just to get to what they need to know. :)
Be patient, I have no doubt they already know what's going on.

When you bring your receipt to the store, it's $10 off the game. Not to mention that what was promised was "up to three days" and in fact, they started the game 4 days in advance, so even if it was down for 24 hours they still wouldn't have infringed on any promises.

Yes and Florendyl which I had seen was affected by this issue was down..then locked for a while and now back up. Could be they are testing a fix..let me hop over to their status page and see..wait..there isn't anything recent on it....*sigh*

I dont care what anyones opinion on this is, but the bottom line that could solve alot of peoples complaints, or at the very least mine, is if there was an official forum where we could identify a problem or more importantly, Sigil could say "Hey guys we know theres a problem, were working on it, give us x amount of time"
Because even thou they are trying their best, in this industry you need to keep us informed.

I have to say that the bitching and moaning going on in this thread and others looks identical to what I've seen when servers go down on official forums.
That being said, all they'd be able to do is post and say "yeah there's a problem with the login server and we're working on it."
Then they'd fix it, and some player would post a "WOOT servers are back up!" thread about 15min before the official "servers are back up" post. If they can save cash by not hosting official forums so they can pay devs to patch problems on saturdays, I'm happy to hang out here. ;)

Well, I've ben using this unfortunate downtime to reserve character names (since for some reason it can MAKE character... just can't log them in)
I'm very happy now.. having gotten long time names I've loved for years but always miss out on when I get in a MMO too late.

There is a page. They just don't update it very often. It was last updated yesterday.
An official forum would just be this thread times a thousand. Would be nice if they modeled their home page after DAoC. They have no official forums but manage to keep the player base very up to date most of the time (at least they did back when I played).

I don't care too much that there are no official forums. Just looking at all this flaming I can understand why Sigil chose this path. However I do agree that there should be a single site for server status, patch status and a place for devs to post "we are aware of problem 'X' ". SOE is not the answer, I got stuck in an endless loop I do not need to log in --- you do not have permission to access the page. Put a link on the log in page that goes to a status page and bypass all that SOE crap. /sarcasm on " I Love SOE " /sarcasm off.

O.o - got up this morning after a looong day playing Vanguard yestday. Logged on to Silky Venom and went "wow - why are so many poeple on (over 800 atm)".
Then, of course, saw my server was down.
All I can say is, I'm glad Silky upgraded.

Err...no having 5 servers down with no official comment for hours isn't great..it wsas going fairly well except for the 8 hour issue with the EU servers yesterday but today its not great..so far today its mediocre at best with the customer service rating poor.

Totally agree. Server keeps going down, and up.. They are obviously working on something. Just be patient. Read the wiki, read the lore, go eat, smoke a cigar, make a forum sig... The servers will come back. :)

Agreed there does need to be a better way of keeping us informed. Something is nor right with the Euro Servers performance was no better or worse than I had on US servers in Beta when loading was much higher. Makes you wonder just what Hardware is being used to run Vanguard in Amsterdam.

Were you in the beta? Their customer service blew every other MMORPGs customer service out of the water. They were quick to let everyone know what was going on and they did pay attention to and respond to posts on their forums.
Now I do agree that there does seem to be a disconnect right at the moment. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt based upon past experience. I am willing to wait and see what changes they may make to avoid this kind of confusion in the future.

I was in beta..and I agree about the service in beta.
However in beta we had a forum to inform them of issues like these and for them to respond.
We don't have this now and this situation is an example of very bad customer service. And when we brought up JUST such occurances as this in the feedback post for not having an official forum of any kind we were told it wouldn't happen...but it is happening.

was gunna ask if the majority of the cry babies where playing beta. guys, come on... they did a patch and something happened. CRYYY!! at least the servers have been stable (cept now). this pre-release is sooo much better then the beta ever was. you think the dev's and gm's arent noticing what is going on, or what the feedback is here? your dead wrong. just cause they dont have their own site anymore doesnt mean they arent listening. maybe they havent responded to your cry's because they are trying to fix the problem.
to the other issue of getting your monies worth. i believe that this is a pre-release atm. they didnt have to do it. they even said many times over that there will be alot of tweaks and patches in the next few months. perhaps if some peeps did some reaserch (omg.. having to do work on my own??) then you may not be stressing atm. hell, before i logged on here, i thought it was just me, was almost gunna reinstall the game.

I don't KNOW that they are aware of it. I only assume that they are because they keep taking a couple of the servers down and putting them back up again. Could be crashing over and over without anyone knowing about it for all I know.
Its called customer service. Get over the fact that some customers expect at little of it.

well.. lets see.. if you read all the posts instead of reading just this last page, i would assume you knew that its just not your server, it is pretty much everyone. with that said, i have a 99.9% hunch that they know that the servers arent working properly.

I've read several posts on several different forums. I know it isn't my server. I'm more than 99.9% sure they know about it. That doesn't change the customer service obligations that an MMO has. You don't feel they owe any commlunication and that is fine. Stick to voicing your own opinion and stop worrying about my opinion.
As for stopping me from "whining somemore" you're free to stop reading it at any time. I'll continue to provide my feedback on the offical "unofficial" forums.

wow you guys are silly. Yeah to let you guys know A member got in to the chat and saw a GM said that they were bringing down server due to log in issues. So they are aware of the problem.

I don't KNOW that they are aware of it. I only assume that they are because they keep taking a couple of the servers down and putting them back up again. Could be crashing over and over without anyone knowing about it for all I know.
Its called customer service. Get over the fact that some customers expect at little of it.

You guys do get that its the principle right? I knew they knew about it the second they took the server back down to do something about it because I happened to be on it at the time. The point is that customer service means you keep your customers informed. It means you spend 5 minutes updating a status page that says "Players on Targonor, Florendyl...etc..." are experiencing login issue. We are looking at the issue No ETA. That frees everyone to move along with their lives and not waste time trying to find out what the problem might be or if it is on there end or if others are having the issue.
Its just really about what your standards are for MMO customer service. Either that or how much of an apologist you are for a game company.

Better late than never my only complaint about that notice is that its a little vague..but since it does qualify as finally some official notice its better than the silence up till now.

well...i think you guys both have good points....Customer service is always a good thing to have top notch....but then again they dont HAVE to have great customer service...and they dont HAVE to inform us about anything....and also there Customer service from my experince so far with them is Great. And ill end it for both you guys and put the last post....you guys tied =). Gratz. See you all in Vanguard hopefully tonight.

Wow, come one guys... Everyone has their own opinion. One thing I've learned reading forums for years... Don't argue.. It's just a waste of space.. It's not likely your going to change anyones opinion or views on the topic at hand.
Do I think there should be official forums, yes. But it does not matter what I think. But as long as the Devs can communicate with us via vanguardsoh dot com I am ok with it.
So like it has been said. This is pre-release. The game is still new. There will be bugs, there will be down time... But as long as they are making it a better game, that's ok. Everyone should just be happy that they have gotten a chance to play the potentially best MMO to date.
I would like to get back on my server too, but instead of sitting around here waiting impatiently letting my temper build up, I am going to go work on my car and clean my room up a bit. I am sure most of us have been playing a good portion of the day, now is a good time to stretch, and get some fresh air.
The night is still young, and I am sure the problem will be resolved soon. Now lets all play nice. :D

Couldn't have said it better. Thats all I really ask, some quick info what is going on ATM of the prob, not hours or days later. Just place some student into a desk and let him post the more recent things whats going on.

Still says Florendyl is down for me. Been unable to log on since 8 hours ago, just like everyone else. So still no luck. Good thing I have a guitar!
EDIT: Server is now UP and I'm in game!
