As of 1/31. Check your run speed. Was getting about 140% from songs alone. Down to 125%.

Noooo!!!
Did you check the song components? They used to have their percentages on them.

The nerf was soo damn retarded. Why are the devs nerfing somethign not OP when theres so many Group/Guild bugs and Mob bugs that need fixing now? B ards trademark IS there speed, Sigil nerfed it like everyone and their mom are playing Bards. Damn Druids get a 60% run speed why nerf us? even with good drums the speed is slow. The devs said it will level out at what level 50? and it will never be leved you nerfed it, it will be down forever lol dam devs

I just gotta wonder WHY? We weren't hurting anyone by running fast. It was a great gift to be able to explore the world and get to parties that needed me quickly. It was just FUN!
It's not like I'm crawling now but I lost 35-40% run speed. If it's been done once what's to say it won't happen again if we find a way to re-claim our birth right?
The only thing I can think of is that it was unbalancing PVP. Then why nerf it on the PVE servers? It's just not cool. Period.:(
I can't say I didn't see this coming though. Somehow I knew that because one class did something so much better than another that it would get nerfed, whether it was balance affecting or not. I had hoped that Sigil would look at this with enlightenment but apparently that was too much to ask.
Can someone please give me a GOOD reason why this was nerfed on the PVE servers? I'll be more than happy to stop complaining if there is a logical explanation.

Hmm I remember at the end of the beta at level 35 I was going about 245% with just a regular drum.. imagine one of the epic or legendary drums.. I don't think its a problem but it would of looked really bad and that would be insanely fast. Maybe this balancing was for the higher levels but ended up making a bigger difference now.
I don't agree with the nerf at all just trying to understand it.

Honestly, if some of the numbers I heard being thrown around for runspeed numbers were accurate, it needed a nerf.
And if you don't think that runspeed can be used to gain a significant play advantage, you never played a bard in EQ.

In PVP or PVE? You are correct that I never played EQ so I'm just curious what kind of issues there were.
I'll admit that some of the numbers sound a bit ridiculous but they're just numbers. Why not run at 300%, 500%, 1000+? Sometimes late in beta when my speedburning was at it's peak I just enjoyed running around exploring at full speed. Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough for ways to exploit my speed.

Both, really. I was never a PvPer in EQ (I hate PvP in these types of games to be frank but that's an entirely different discussion) but you could do some pretty sick things with bard speed in PvE back in the old days.
Bards were quite possibly the most overpowered class in EQ for solo PvE after oldschool necros got nerfed, but even the devs didn't really understand how the class worked so it was difficult for them to make adjustments. :)
I'd rather see them make balancing decisions early and get it right the first time. And I understand that zipping around at lightspeed is very fun, it's just not always the best thing for the overall health of the game.

I used to run at about 190% before the patch. Went down to 150% now. I did find better drums, but they only increased it to 156%. It still feels a ton slower than before :(
They basically just changed the components. The main one that was 30% is now 20%, the ones that were 4% are now all 2%.

Yet making them gimp is healthy for the game ? I know 6 bards who were lvl 15+ who all rerolled after the nerf . I myself rerolled my 23 bard as i dont find playing an extremely gimped class fun . We were supposed to be offensive fighters , yet we can outdamage no class other than healers . Our songs don't add enough dmg , for someone to choose a bard over another dps class who will do more dmg than our songs will add to everyone else . Our utillity is nothing special . It's to the point where people are gonna be asking if a bard is around because someone's group wants to jump off a cliff to cut travel time .

If all you brought to a group was runspeed and now you feel "extremely gimped" because of a relatively mild nerf to that ability, then yes, you probably are well served picking another class. :)

Talisker has said they will try to fix lower level bards runspeed in a patch before this weekend.
at level 49 with a 3.0 mod drum, you will achieve 171% (thats on top of 100% so 271% vs 328% it was before)
I'm about 19% faster than my friends horse, which is fine i guess, but not really all that fun. I do more than fine in dps.
We've been assured this has nothing to do with pvp, but you can never tell.
This is why I first said "never ever ever balance a PVE game around PVP" because you'd see stuff like this all. the. time! (I believe some kid called me a bluebie shortly after)
edit: again, not speculating it was nerfed for pvp :D
hope this info helps

You might do fine in your mind in dps , but in reality you do squat if you are a bard . The only classes a bard can consistently outdamage are healers . No uber gear or stat allocation is gonna change that .

It's one thing to scale an ability, its another thing to nerf the living B'jeezez out of it! I logged on yesterday thinking my drum was bugged. Then i found out, after a few tells, you nerfed our run speed song. /BOGGLE So, I figured it was a good time to head on over to Thestra and get that easily attainable Redcaps drum.. Heh, was i ever wrong! I spent 5 hours in that camp looking for that drum.
You took alot of fun out of the game for Bards Sigil. And the noob Redcaps drum drop-rate is either nerfed or broken. How ironic!
I can think of so many other REAL problems you could have spent time fixing but, you just HAD to nerf those Bards. Please.. and this is what my $15 a month is paying for?
Yeah, yesterday wasnt a good day in the world of Telon for Bards.

I'm not happy about the change but I wouldn't call bards extremely gimped. I find that I can generally solo a 2 dot mob 3 levels above me. That doesn't say anything for groups but I'm not a hardcore grinder. I'll play in a PUG from time to time but I find there's still lots of things to do in the game if I can't get a group for a particular dungeon on a given night.
My friend plays a sorc and yeah, he does a lot of damage but he also dies quickly. If I didn't take the first few hits he'd be making LOTS of corpse runs. You can say "play smarter" but a sorc doesn't always know when something is going to spawn on top of him. I like a little survivability AND dps together.
If everything is working correctly the ability to have invisibility, water breathing, slowfall, buff offense, buff defense, buff regen, buff speed, aoe damage, ranged damage, dual wield is actually pretty cool. Granted most all of these are less powerful than another class but what other class has all of these together?

The problem is that soloing matters to the vast minority . This game was released and advertised as a group centric game . Yes bards have quite a bit of utlity , although most of the utility spells are either worthless or will be rarely needed . Bards are still playable if you plan on soloing the majority of the time , or are a very casual player . There wasn't much point in having a bard in a group before the speed nerf . You can play songs with all dmg increases and that added dmg still wouldn't be in the realm of just dropping the bard from the group and adding another sorc ranger monk etc . As it stands now bards are lacking sorely compared to other classes . If something isnt done then you are going to see nothing but instrument wielding borefests at endgame as a bard .

Tell me more. I'd heard, prior to release, that bards have DPS that's pretty damn impressive ... that, in this game, they'd be an offensive fighter to rival the rangers and rogues. Is that untrue?
Sigil's been saying all along that all classes can do a "job" as well as any other class. So, bards are offensive fighters, they are supposed to do as much DPS as other offensive fighters. Again, is this not true?

No bards aren't even in the same realm as the other offensive fighters when it comes to dmg . Even the broken rogues outdamage bards with ease . Every arcane caster outdamages bards . Bards were very good damage in in parts of beta .
And to be honest . I have some extremely nice gear . My gf and i always play together and i get some nice quest rewards from her .

Bards are full of QQ. Ever heard of jack of all trades, master of none? That is the standard for bards.

Oh really? Then why are instruments so imortant to bards if their the "Jack of all trades"? So you can get just a little dab of haste and just a smidge of DMG reduction and just a tad of Fire resist and a teensy bump of run speed?
Your obviously not a Bard or played one for more than a week.
WOW it's about time... theres no reason bards should be able to out run a damn horse with full tack! Good job on fixing this.

Sounds like somebody's jealous.:p There's no reason they shouldn't. You can't say it's not realistic because this is a fantasy game. If they were going for realistic people couldn't levitate or breathe under water either.
As I've mentioned before, as long as there was a game breaking issue with bards running fast, fine. However if people just want to begrudge another class because someone could outrun them, that's just childish.
I'm sure there's something your class does better than bards. I'm not going to come on the forums and post how happy I am if you get nerfed.
