Problem connecting to patch server

Hey, I just got back to college and installed vanguard on my computer, and I'm dying to play, but I can't connect to the patch server. There's a thread about this at by another guy who seems to have the same problem at the official forum, but no replies.

Anyway, if you guys have any advice it would be much appreciated.
